Squire T HARVEY born in NY about 1834 lived Erie East Ward, Erie, PA in 1850 at age 16 he was a servant in another house, no family near * Squire Thomas Harvey, born July 15, 1834 Randolph Cattaraugus CO NY son of John Harvey and a Miss POWELL died in Chicago, April 25, 1902 in the mid 1850's he came to the Midwest with his father in Law, Harry SESSIONS settling first in Comanche IOWA, engaging in the hotel business til 1860 when the memorable toronado of that year wrecked their hotel.
Mr Harvey then went to Fulton CO IL where he embarked in the liqour business, as a member of the firm of Bird and Harvey Co at 30 Water St.
He passed the business on to his sons, Harry F and Earl T Harvey.
He married to Miss Laura Amanda SESSIONS in 1858 a native of England and she died in October 1900 age 63 yrsEst. 1863.The following is taken from an unidentified volume extolling the business prowess of Chicago at the end of the 19th century (1890’s): "SQUIRE T. HARVEY & SON, 185 East Washington Street, Chicago; jobbers and dealers in fine old ryes and Kentucky whiskies, imported and California wines and brandies. This house was established in 1863, and has won for itself an enviable reputation for its uniform honorable dealings and the high grade of its goods. Among its popular brands are "Cologne Gin, No.7947," "Sherwood Pure Rye Malt Whiskey," "La Salle Club Bourbon," and "Belle of Anderson Co. Sour Mash."
