James Crane

He was a private in the Revolutionary War; served in Telford's, Hunter's,Drake's and Truesdell's compnaies, Col. Albert Pauling's regiment, 1779; alsoin Col. Thaddeus Crane's regiment, 1779-80-81; and Col. William Malcolm's regiment.

James Crane died in Richmond, Vermont and was originally buried in Village Cemetery there. A. Rogers has a copy of his death/burial record issued by the State of Vermont in 1979. It gives his date of death as August 17, 1829. Hewas apparently reinterred in Wisconsin at a later date.

The gravestone of James Crane, his wife Clarinda and of three daughters - Betsey, Loretta and Jane,was located at Lakeview Cemetery by Sandra Wellman in May 2002. All five person's names are on the same stone. The information on the stone reads:
