Captain William Douglas

William b. Plainfield, August 22, 1743; m. Hannah Cole. In 1765, he and his first born child moved by oxen to Jericho Hollow, Mass., and built a log cabin. Captain William Douglas rendered important service at Bennington as a spy upon the British works. He died in Stephentown, NY on December 29, 1811; Hannah died in Stephentown on December 24, 1795 at the age of 54 years.
