His father, James HOUGHTON, was a native of England, and came to the United States when a young man. From New York he removed to Fayette County, Indiana, and married Miss Hannah MORRIS in 1824. They were the parents of nine children, named respectively: Phebe, John, Thomas, Clarissa, Rachel, William, Elvira, Edward and Jefferson. Thomas, the subject of this sketch,. . ."
