Elva M. Phenis, 86, of Anderson, died Jan. 24, 2004, at Community Hospital Anderson as the result of a sudden illness. She was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Saco, Mont. and had been an Anderson resident most of her life. She was a graduate of Anderson High School, Class of 1936. In 1977, she retired from her job in production at Delco Remy after 25 years of employment. She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Anderson. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Sue and Darrell Shaw of Chesterfield; grandson, Ron Fancher of Cassopolis, Mich.; granddaughter, Cheri Grove of Fishers; four great-grandchildren, Corey Fancher, Ronnie Fancher II, Benjamin Grove and Kyle Grove; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ethel (Otis) Morris; four sisters, Zaida Hodson, Nola Hiday, Viola Covey and Frances Frost; and a brother, Leonard Morris. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Zirkle of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling will be two hours prior to the Wednesday service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice."
