She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Castleton, a past treasurer of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Sodality and a past member of the Nickwackett Club in North Chittenden. She married Joseph P. Duffy Sr. on June 8, 1929, at St. Gregory’s Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Anne was known for her thoughtfulness towards others in good times and bad, always making herself available as needed. She was especially noted for remembering birthdays and other special or important occasions, big or small, with cards and letters. She enjoyed letter writing to several pen pals. She loved having family around her and was always quick to join in playing cards and games with them. The tradition of giving M&M’s to three generations will be a memory that will live in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her devoted children, Patricia (Duffy) and Walter Schubert of East Greenwich, R.I., Joseph P. Jr. and Mary Duffy of Norwalk, Conn., William R. and Charlene Duffy of Marlboro, Mass., Anne (Duffy) and James Meade of Hilton Head, S.C., and Margaret (Duffy) and Gilbert Nadeau Jr. of Lake Bomoseen, Vt., with whom she made her home. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a half brother, Newton Churchill of Salem, Ore.
Anne was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joseph P. Duffy Sr. on May 3, 1992, and a daughter, Marie in 1941. Also, seven sisters, Edna McNally, Ruth Churchill, Reba Wetmore, Ella Paine, Lena Ketcham, Lavina Churchill and Catherine Simpson, and one brother, Glen H. Churchill; half sisters, Amanda Cox, Ida Patch and half brother, Charles Riford Churchill.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 11 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Church, Pittsford, Vermont, followed by a reception in the church hall. Burial will be in the spring at the parish cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, February 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Barnard Funeral Home, Route 7, in Pittsford.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Alphonsus Cemetery Fund, in care of Edward Keith, P.O. Box 234, Pittsford, Vermont 05763, or the Rutland Area Visiting Nurses Association & Hospice, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, Vermont 05702-0787.
