Damrau, 78, Rt 3, Shawano, formerly of Rt 1, Bowler, died early Friday morning, December 29 at the Shawano County Home.He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Julius Damrau, born Feb. 7, 1894 in Germany. He was a retired dairy farmer.Mr. Damrau was married on Feb. 15, 1930 at Bowler to Katie Murkus who preceded him in death July 1, 1970.Survivors are two step-sons, Ervin Gara, Dayton, Ohio; John Gara, Oshkosh; one step-daughter, Margret, Mrs. Frank Igl, Antigo; one step-grandson, Albert Gara, Appleton, and several other step-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 2 pm at the Born Funeral Home, Gresham. DAMRAU, 87, RURAL BOWLER DIES THIS A.M.Mrs. Richard (Katie) Damrau, 87, of route 1, Bowler, died this morning Wednesday, July 1, after a lingering illness.Mrs. Damrau, the former Katie Markus, was born Nov. 15, 1882 in Budapest, Hungary. She came to the U.S. when she was 20 years old settling in St. Louis, After her marriage to John Gara she moved to this area. Mr. Gara died Dec. 26, 1924. On Feb. 15, 1930 she married Richard Dararau at Bowler.Survivors include her husband, one daughter and two sons, Margaret, Mrs. Prank Igl of Antigo and John of Oshkosh and Ervin of Dayton, Ohio. Other survivors are 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Two daughters preceded her in death."3Obituary.
