"Obituary: NICK PERKINS Nick Perkins, 75, Mission, died March 22, 1992, in the Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center. He was born in Pine City, Minn., and moved to this area in 1960. Mr. Perkins worked for the General Cable Corp. before he retired in 1969. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Society in Kansas City. He had attended the Pine City High School and the University of Minnesota and Drake University. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Donalda W. Perkins of the home; three daughters, Jeannie Carlson, Lenexa, Sandy Bowen, Springfield, Mo., and Mary Pat Noonen, Rockton, Ill.; a sister, Millie Jean Perkins, St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. "Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Estella Rekow, 87, of Ellendale, were held Wednesday afternoon, June 12, at the Holte Funeral home with Rev. Clifford Rogers of Britton, S. D., officiating.
Mrs. Rekow died June 8 at Memorial hospital in Ellendale. Previously she had resided at the Ellendale Nursing Center.
Pallbearers were Willis Rekow, Donald Rekow, Larry Kann, Robert Kann, Kenneth Kann and Vernon Shonk. Interment took place at Britton cemetery. Mrs. Rekow was born Apr. 29, 1881, in Brown county, South Dakota, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. (Esther Clement) Henry Wilbur. She had been married to Fred Rekow, and had resided in Ellendale since 1919.
She is survived by two sons, Willis and Donald, both of Lakeland, Fla.; four daughters, Mrs. (Frances) George Kann of Britton, Mrs. (Ruby) Joe Cordell of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. (Gladys) Vernon Shonk of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. (Donalda) Nick Perkins of Overland Park, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers."
