"Earl Watts
Earl Francis Watts, son of Robert O. and Maggie Porter Watts, was born in Day County, South Dakota, March 17, 1890. He passed away at the Belmond Hospital January 1, 1966. On May 22, 1912, he was married to May Haidee Mechem of Clarion, Iowa.

He attended the Bremer County, Ia., rural schools; graduated from business college at Oelwein, and worked for a number of years with the Chicago Great Western and Milwaukee Railroads. He moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1918, where he was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad until 1929, when he returned to Clarion. Since that time he had farmed in Lincoln and Grant Townships in Wright County, and served his community as township cleark and member of the school board. Upon retirement from active farming, he became a territorial manager for Cargill, and a salesman of automobiles and farm equipment.

Baptized into Christ early in life, he was active in the work of the church everywhere he lived.

He is survived by one son, Alre of Clarion, two daughters, Mrs. Wesley Warner of Goldfield, and Mrs. George Kitchen of Turnwater, Wash.; nine grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lorraine Ashbey of Clinton, and one brother, Burnett, of Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, a brother and one grandson."
