"Nathan Hawley bought of Elisha Woodruff two and one-half acres of land including the north saw-mill, June 29, 1807. He was living in Philadelphia, Vt. On the 24th of October of 1809, he bought of John Merriam* the Dr. Abiathar Millard place, and the following winter removed his family to this town. He died in the house now owned by Miss Achsah Leach, June 7, 1849, aged eighty years. Mrs. Hawley died in Brandon, April 23, 1851, aged eight-six years.
