" GATES, Richard L. Born July 6, 1949, in Aberdeen, SD, to Leonard and Frances Gates passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Dec. 17, 2004, in Rocklin, CA. Richard is survived by his wife, Donna Gates, and his four children, Danny, David, Lea, and Jerrod. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Gates, and family of Rio Linda, CA. He will be lovingly missed by his three grandchildren, Sha-lonnie, Kylee and Kameron. Richard was a 19 year employee of SMUD and cherished his friends and co-workers. He also loved motorcycles, hiking and his Lord and Savior with all of his heart. Service will be held at Loomis Basin Congregational, 6440 King Road, Loomis, CA. on Wed., Dec. 22, at 10:00 AM for viewing and 11:00AM for funeral services. The family would like to thank the caregivers and Hospice nurses who assisted Richard during his struggle with Cancer. Donations can be made in Richard's memory to the Kaiser Hospice, 2025 Morse Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825. Published in the Sacramento Bee from 12/19/2004 - 12/21/2004."
