Long-winded dialogs at inappropriate places mark this otherwise watchable flick.Sarath and family (comprising Kushboo, their son & R.Sunderrajan) stop at a village to put an end to a caste fight and are pressured by the villagers to stay on and help them. Anandraj is the village baddie, someone who has killed his own brother for an inter-caste marriage.
Sarath rises in stature and is trusted by all in the village. Vineeth, his son who is sent to the city for studies is all set to become a policeman. When Sarath refuses to give him and his friends to build a leather factory on the fields, he feels insulted and leaves the house. Anandraj takes him in and even incites him to cut off the father-son relationship. But Sarath refuses and Vineeth who gets the order to join the police force, comes back to arrest his father for the killing of a family in the city.
In the flashback, Kanaga is the wife of a drunkard and when he runs into trouble at his bank, he agrees to let his manager 'spend' some time with his wife. Sarath inadvertently kills the husband when trying to save the wife and she asks Sarath to take care of her son and dies. So, turns out Sarath never married Kushboo just to keep his word of taking care of Vineeth, who was not even his son. Vineeth changes and the reopening of the local temple, which Anandraj wants to prevent at all costs, provides the setting for the climax.
This K.S.Ravikumar-ish tale is directed by one of his assistants who still has some way to go to gain K.S.R's touch. The make-up for the older man suits Sarath really well and he's put a lot of effort into the climax dance with heavy anklets. Anandraj does a great job. Manivannan's comedy track is pathetic. A couple of songs by Deva are listenable.
