A cinematic and improbable but interesting and feel-good tale.

The movie opens with Parthiban brought home from jail by his inspector friend. He meets the inspector's wife, revealed to be his ex-love in the first of three flashbacks. He also meets Roja, a prostitute, at the police station.

Always a revolutionary, he changes his name and moves to one of the poorer areas of the city where he improves their lot and becomes the local MLA. He joins the ruling party to help them gain majority and thereby becomes a minister. He gains the confidence of the corrupt Chief Minister - all the while tricking him behind his back - and gets the CM to resign while installing him as the temporary CM. He starts doing good to the people and quickly gains their trust.

On a visit to a mental institution, he recalls one of the nurses there who had nursed him back to good health when he was locked up there at the minister's behest. He marries Roja. He jails the former CM with the support of his own children and reveals his identity.The CM, when he had been a minister, had been responsible for the death of Parthiban's mother and sister and for getting him admitted into the mental institution.

Meanwhile, defections from his party enables the opposition party to gain majority and assume power leading to riots by the people wanting him back. He solves the issue fairly in the climax.

Feels nice as always to see a rags-to-riches story. Also makes one feel good to see a CM do so much for the people. Parthiban does all segments well and Anandraj makes a great villain but none of the heroines have much to do. Ranjit is wasted in an inconsequential role. S.S.Chandran has some choice dialogs about the current political situation. Vadivelu, in a guest role that has no connection to the main storyline, gets on our nerves. Nothing new from Deva.
