James(Satyaraj) works in a call center. One his way to work in the train one evening, he witnesses the murder of a union leader(Ajay Rathnam) and becomes indispensable to the police since he is the only eyewitness. The police believe that the killer may be back. So they get James and Aishwarya(Sunita Varma), an informer, to pose as husband and wife and move into the house opposite the victim's house.
The movie turns interesting with Ajay Rathnam's murder but fails to maintain the interest for long. The move by the police to put the eye-witness up in the opposite house is silly and teaming him up with an 'informer'(who by the way, is singing and dancing in skimpy clothing with her friends when first shown!) is obvious as a way to introduce a heroine. But the movie then throws up a neat twist midway. The development answers some questions about the story so far and also perks up interest in the story which had appeared to be meandering aimlessly.
The movie turns into a cliched revenge tale after that, including the requisite flashback that elaborates the reasons behind the revenge spree. There is also another smaller surprise but the but the plot point(as well as its eventual resolution) is straight out of the Malayalam flick Kauravar.
The movie actually starts off with comedy that works. When the movie starts, we do get scenes that are funny(like the way Satyaraj gets Vadivelu in trouble with the girl in their office) and sarcastic(like his explanation of the way call centers work). But the quality of the comedy goes into a deep downward slide from there. As Satyaraj becomes enmeshed in the murder track, Vadivelu becomes the sole participant in the comedy track. It is crude and unfunny and the episodes become nothing more than unwanted interruptions in an interesting story.
The goatee suits Satyaraj and he looks more presentable than in his last few outings. Sunitha Varma is on hand just for the glamour and does whats expected of her. Actor Ravindar(Oru Thalai Raagam) makes a comeback but his acting looks rather rusty.
