O
kuya, you might think I'm writing this letter kasi may hihingiin ako
sa iyo, but the truth is that I'm just reminiscing our good old days
in Port Abler, Canada. And I think that the only person who'll really
understand me is you because we experienced and learned a great deal
of things there that has molded us to who we are now. Although we had
a hard time coping with the extremely cold days and nights, the new
way of living, and being thousands of miles away from our family and
friends, I'm really glad that you were there with me. Your presence
made my stay there more bearable.
I remember how we pigged out on KFC and McDonald's when we first got
there. After having too much of it, we lived on steaks, salads, Chinese
food and TV dinners. But thank God for Arline who provided us with her
wonderful Filipino dishes that made us feel somehow closer to home.
She and Mike are now the owners of Beaver Creek grocery. Janet, Joanne
and Jaime are all grown up now, it just goes to show you how time has
gone by so quickly.
Does the name Tita Sally ring a bell? Haha! How can it not? She was
like our second mom because she really looked after us and made sure
we were okay. But she also made us do a lot of things that were new
to us, like waking up early Saturday morning and making us sell boxes
of chocolates for a fund raising. But it was somewhat below freezing
point that morning and after twenty houses and still no sale, we decided
to buy them ourselves. Which was sort of a good move because they were
impressed with our selling skills and we had a month supply of chocolates
all for us. There's Uncle Rich in his Canadian attire and Grandma with
her dog, both of which are now in heaven.
I will never forget the Christmas Story play that we were part of. I
thinks that is was what propelled you into joining the business. It's
funny how God works in mysterious ways.
You best friend in Canada, Jeff Jarman is now a licensed helicopter
pilot working for the British Columbia White Horse. He's really made
good for himself.
Talking about these things really makes one realize how time has flown
and things changed. But spite of all these changes, our memories will
always stay the same. Tita Aida, Tita Alice, and everyone from Port
Abler are wishing you a Happy Birthday !!!
