Tips for Small Large Parties

Small parties are wonderful because you can create a warm, intimate atmosphere for your closest friends with a minimum of stress. Keeping things small allows you more time to focus on the finer details - and of course your guests.

1. Early preparation and organisation is important. Use our Home Entertainment Party Planner as a checklist, it may be a lifesaver.

2. Refer to some of our other hosting links for invaluable tips.

3. Organise the invitations. Set your guest list, date & time, theme and location. As you are entertaining for a small intimate group, ensure you only invite people you are comfortable and relaxed with.

4. Set your budget. You will need to estimate the costs of decorations, food, drinks, and possibly even small gifts for each of your guest. Because the group is small you could consider spending a little more on some of the finer details such as floral arrangements, quality candles, lighting, cutlery and glassware. Don't forget a good selection of music. The florists listed in our business directory prepare and deliver beautiful flower arrangements and gifts.

5. Prepare as much food and decorations as possible in advance. You want your party to be intimate, therefore you need to be ready to meet and entertain your guests at the door, and not slaving in the kitchen or deciding what to wear for the night. For some great tips on how to be the perfect host, click here.

6. If your budget permits hire someone to help out in the kitchen for a couple hours on the day of the party, otherwise ask a friend. Remember, a stress free host is a good host.

7. After dinner you may want to bring out some games to add a little bit of fun and spice to the night. Visit our Great Party Games page for some interesting ideas.

8. Most importantly, relax on the day/night. If something goes wrong don't dwell on it, if you are relaxed your guests will quickly forget anything happened.
