Let's set the mood for romance. Simply add some flowers, a little champagne, some wonderful scents and a couple of sexy after dinner games. These tips are guaranteed to have your partner melt in your arms before the night is over. |

|First Steps|Preparing the Room|The Small Touch|The Meal|After Dinner Activities| 1) Turn off a unwanted and passion killing distractions such as the TV, mobile phone, pager........ Send the kids away for the night and even send the attention seeking House Cat outside for a night under the stars. 2) Clean the house. There is nothing more unromantic than dining in a cluttered room complete with last weeks sports socks, dinner plates and newspapers. 3) Dine by candlelight. Candles can transform the simplest meal into a romantic occasion. To help add romance to your table, try complimenting the candles with a centrepiece (not too large, you still need to see each other!!). Fresh flowers, plants or a bowl of potpourri are a couple of centrepiece suggestions. Try to choose high candlesticks so that both you and your dinner partner are lit from above (casts a flattering light) and the flicker of the flame will not become annoying. Lightly scented candles also make a nice touch. 4) Use your best china and silver and include a set of champagne flutes or red wine glasses. Don't set the place settings at opposite ends of the table. Leave them close to one another. For tips on setting a formal table, click here. 5) Select music that helps to set the romantic mood, but doesn't distract or overpower your conversation (your Jimmy Barnes and Nirvana collection will have to wait for another night). Pre-select your music for the evening to avoid interruptions. Fill the CD player with your favourite romantic collections (there is an endless supply of romantic collections from any record store) and a song or album that has special significance for the two of you. 6) Flowers are romance and roses are considered the most romantic. Remember red roses mean love, while white roses mean friendship. For ideas see your florist. For something a little special scatter a path of rose petals leading from the door to the dinner table. 7) Finally, scenting the room. Your flowers and lightly scented candles have already added some scent to the room but the power of aromatherapy can not be understated. Add some relaxing and romantic oils to your oil burners (be conservative as you do not want the scents to be overpowering) and let them work their magic. 8) Do not lose the theme of the night in the bathroom. Add floating candles in a nice bowl and an oil burner. Maintain soft lighting throughout the house. 9) Send your partner a seductive invitation, not a phone call or E-Mail. Add images of intertwined hearts, red hot lips or provocative silhouettes of naked men and women. 10) My best tip for the meal is to serve light with quality ingredients. Serve sensuous food, but in relatively small portions. Nothing ruins a romantic evening faster than the bloated I-can't-move feeling. 11) I will not suggest any recipes because everyone has cookbooks and Women's magazines with a plethora of recipes for all occasions (if not, buy some). My only suggestion is to cook something you are familiar with. Do not try that extravagant new dish on your special romantic night, unless you are very confident of your culinary abilities. If you want to experiment try making some after dinner truffles laced with rum, port or your favourite liqueur. 12) Do not go overboard with table etiquette, being comfortable and friendly is what the night is all about. Simple manners and politeness will suffice. 13) Serve either well chilled champagne (remember the Ice Bucket) or a good red wine before and during the meal. 14) Now is the time to have some fun and and really spoil your partner. Depending on what stage your relationship is, try some of these suggestions:
