We are now just a few days away from getting the quarter-finalists in the Vitality T20 Blast but the competition to get a spot is growing more and more intense with every passing match. It's pretty tight at the top of the ladder in both the groups and one result could be the difference between a knockout appearance and an early exit from the tournament.
Up next in the competition, Yorkshire are set to take on Worcestershire in a match important to both these sides. Yorkshire are still in the hunt but would need to win this match to stay put. Worcestershire, on the other hand, are already out and will be looking to end their campaign on a high. Both sides are expected to come hard at each other and a cracker of a contest is on the cards. The match between the two sides is to be played at the County Ground, New Road, Worcester on 23rd June 2022.
Worcestershire Rapids were one of the most consistent sides of the tournament up until the beginning of the last year, but they have failed to live up to the expectations since then. They had a terrible last season and are now following up with yet another season wherein they have failed to do anything of substance. They are already out of race for the playoffs and can be a dangerous team to deal with having nothing to lose.
As it currently stands on the points table, the Rapids are placed at the bottom of the points table and even a win here will not take them to the eight spot. They have won a grand total of one match up until now and have three points to their name. Besides, their net run rate of -1.584 just tells how poor they have been in the competition thus far.
The Rapids have a side lacking in experience and the absence of Moeen Ali right throughout the tournament hasn't really helped their cause. They would need someone to really step-up their game in this upcoming match. They do not have many matches to get their pride back and are expected to come out all guns blazing. If they are able to play to their potential in this upcoming match, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.

Yorkshire have not been at their best in the tournament but the good thing for them is that they are still in the hunt to get to the next round. Winning alternatively in their last four matches, they have blown hot and cold. It hasn't been different for them in the tournament too as they have won less than fifty percent of their matches thus far. They do not have many matches up their sleeve now and winning each of their remaining matches will be their top priority.
On the points table at the moment, they are sitting just at the bottom of the mid-table muddle - at the sixth spot. The good thing for them is that they have a spectacular net run-rate of 0.930, which can come in pretty handy should things get tight towards the end. Another win here will likely push them to the fourth spot on the ladder, provided the Bears lose their match, and that is exactly what they will be aiming for.
With Jonny Bairstow not available for them, Yorkshire do have massive boots to fill. Having said that, they also have some excellent talent available at the top, who if at their best, can take apart even the best bowling attacks on their day. Yorkshire have a decent side at their disposal and if they are able to play to their potential, getting past them could prove to be an incredibly difficult task.
Adam Lyth, Finn Allen, Tom Kohler Cadmore, Harry Brook, Shadab Khan, Jonathan Tattersall, Jordan Thompson, Matthew Revis, George Hill, Matthew Waite, Dominic Bess.
With a playoff spot at stake, this is an important match for Yorkshire. A win here will put them back into the race for the playoffs whereas a loss would pretty much mean curtains. Worcestershire, on the other hand, will be fighting for their pride. Considering how the two sides have played thus far, Yorkshire Vikings are clearly ahead. On paper as well, Yorkshire are a better-balanced side between the two. Considering that and other factors stated above, we would be placing our bets on a Yorkshire win and so should you.
