We are almost half-way into the Karnataka Premier League, and things are beginning to set up beautifully. Shivamogga Lions are currently at the top of the table with a splendid net run-rate, and another win should be enough for them to qualify for the next round. Right behind them are Bellary Tuskers, who are coming off a narrow victory at the hands of Bengaluru Blasters and will be looking to get back to the winning ways. The two top of the table teams are set to take on each other in a crucial clash which is to be played on 23rd August at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. A win here for either side should ascertain winner's berth in the next round which is what both the teams will be striving hard for in the upcoming fixture.
With three wins in three matches to their name, the Lions are well placed at the top of the table and have arguably looked the best team in the tournament so far. They have six points to their name, and even though teams have historically qualified with six points in their kitty, they'll be looking to add two more and ascertain a playoff spot.
The inclusion of Pavan Deshpande has been a big bonus for Shivamogga Lions as he's already won them a game on his own. Nihal Ullal, their wicket-keeper batsman, is the leading run-scorer for them with a total of 149 runs to his name. With Deshpande available to bat pretty late in the batting order, they have a deep batting lineup which has so far been tough to contain for all the sides.
Even though it's been Pradeep T who has taken most wickets for them, their bowling attack has done well on the whole. All in all, Shivamogga Lions are a terrific side on paper which has also reflected in their results. They have momentum and players in the form right through their lineup and will not be an easy side to defeat even for the high-flying Bellary Tuskers.

Right below the Lions are Bellary Tuskers, who too have been excellent in the tournament so far. Their only loss came in recently, in a rain-inflicted encounter, wherein they lost the match by a minuscule margin of just one run. They have six points to their name with a net run rate of +0.4 in four games played.
For them, Devdutt Padikkal have been in superb nick with over 150 runs to his name in four matches. His failure to take off in the last game was one of the prime reasons for their loss in the previous game. Chasing a total of just 94 in sixteen overs, their batting collapsed like a pack of cards and when they were on 55 for 5, one run behind as per VJD method, rain intervened, and the match was cut short.
Despite the loss, they had plenty of positives to take from that game, the most prominent being their bowling. Abrar Kazi was the pick of their bowlers, but contributions came from almost all their bowlers with Prasidh Krishna, K Gowtham, KP Appanna, and B Gulecha all picking up a wicket each. They have a terrific bowling attack with most of their bowlers having the experience of playing in IPL which could come in handy in their upcoming fixture.

It's an important match for both the sides with both of them having a chance to ascertain a spot in the playoffs. While both the teams have played immaculate cricket in the tournament so far, performance-wise Shivamogga Lions certainly seem ahead. Having said that, Bellary Tuskers have a superb bowling attack with a plethora of experience, which could prove to be a handful against Shivamogga Lions. They also have a good batting lineup to back it up. Therefore, we think that the Bellary Tuskers are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
