After a break lasting for over a couple of months, the Marsh One-Day Cup is all set to resume. With Covid-19 impacting this tournament too and unlike Sheffield Shield, wherein the six teams involved will be playing an uneven number of matches, six sides are set to play six Marsh Cup matches each. The tournament may have been cut short, but it is certainly not going to be any short on quality.
To mark the resumption of the tournament, South Australia will be taking on Victoria on 15th February 2022. The match will be played at The Karen Rojton Oval, Adelaide. Both these sides have been dismal so far and will be looking to make a move on from here. We expect both sides to come out all guns blazing and a cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards.
South Australia faced a heavy defeat at the hands of Queensland in their last outing, but plenty of time has passed since then. Before that, they scored a terrific win, which just demonstrated their strength in the two departments of the game. They are placed right above Victoria on the points table with one win, though they have played four matches to get that win.
With Alex Carey available to their disposal, Victoria have experience available right at the top and behind the stumps. He has been in excellent form in whatever matches he has played recently and will not be easy to deal with. Apart from him, a lot will depend on how Llyod Pope bowls, who so far has been brilliant.
All in all South Australia have a decent side on paper with plenty of experienced players available. They have blown hot and cold in the tournament thus far and will want to get things right as we move into the business end of the tournament. Given the position they are in, winning both of their remaining matches will be necessary. Expect them to come out all guns blazing here and if they are able to play to their potential, Victoria would certainly have their work cut out.

It's been a while since Victoria last played a domestic game, let alone a Marsh Cup game. They once used to be a powerhouse in the Australian domestic circuit but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Currently on the points table, Victoria are languishing right at the bottom with zero win from two matches. The only thing that works in their favor is that they haven't played as many matches as some of the other sides have.
Most of their senior players didn't really feature much in the matches that happened earlier, but a full-strength South Australia side does look formidable. The likes of Marcus Harris, Peter Handscomb, Mackenzie Harvey, Matthew Short, and Scott Boland have all been pretty decent in the matches they played last and would want to bring that experience here in this fifty-over format.
All in all, Victoria have a pretty good side on paper and will need to execute things well. If they are able to do that, they will be a very difficult side to get past.
Peter Handscomb, Marcus Harris, Mackenzie Harvey, Jake Fraser McGurk, Matthew Short, Nic Maddinson, Will Sutherland, Jonathan Merlo, Brody Couch, Henry Thornton, Todd Murphy.

With just the top two teams set to go to the next round, both these sides are running out of time. Comparing the two sides on form, there's nothing to separate them because of two reasons. One, both sides have lost their most recent respective matches and two, both last played quite a while ago. On paper, however, South Australian Redbacks do appear slightly ahead. For that reason, we would be placing our money on a South Australia win and so should you.
