We are just about near the end of the tournament in the Legends League Cricket and it would be fair to say that this tournament has surpassed the expectations of many. The players have looked extremely fit and the competition has been intense. The tournament is now hanging in a delicate position with World Giants taking on India Maharajas in what is a match of massive importance for both these sides in the context of progressing to the finale. The match between the two sides is to be played at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium, is a cricket ground in Muscat, Oman on 26th January 2021.
India Maharajas have blown hot and cold in the tournament and it is just the time that they would want to get back to their best. The bowling has done a decent job for them up until now, but batting has clearly not done enough. We have seen them concede the two lowest scores of the season while bowling first, but in the last match, their batsmen could just not be the match against the Lions.
We expect them to come back reinforced with the likes of Naman Ojha and Irfan Pathan back into the side and that will add some balance to the side. They already bat deep and that can be of crucial advantage. It will all depend on how their batsmen are able to do in this upcoming match and if the likes of Yusuf Pathan and Naman Ojha get going, keeping the Maharajas quiet is going to be a very difficult task.
N Ojha, Wasim Jaffer, Subramaniam Badrinath, Yusuf Pathan, Stuart Binny, Aavishkar Salvi, Munaf Patel, Nikhil Chopra, Amit Bhandari, Irfan Pathan, Rajat Bhatia.
World Giants arguably have one of the better bowling attacks in the tournament with the likes of Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir, Darren Samy, and Monty Panesar available, but they have not been able to utilize well in the two matches gone so far. They are currently at par with the Maharajas on the points table with only the net run rate distinguishing the two.
Up until now in the tournament, World Giants have looked a bit iffy with their usual suspects with the bat just not doing enough. We saw Imran Tahir save the day for them in their last meeting against the Maharajas and it is unlikely that it will happen again. If the Giants are able to step up their game with the bat, they will be a tough side to handle going forward in the series.
KP Pietersen, Herschelle Gibbs, Kevin O'Brien, Albie Morkel, Daren Sammy, Brett Lee, Morne Morkel, Ryan Sidebottom, MS Panesar, Jonty Rhodes, Phil Mustard.
This is an important contest as a winner of this match will be in the pole position as far as the qualification for the next round is concerned. India Maharajas rested their main players for the last match and we will see them come out with their full-strength side in the upcoming contest. The Giants, on the other hand, will be confident of scoring another win over the Maharajas. Comparing the two sides on paper, India Maharajas seem ahead, largely because of the fire-power and depth that they have with the bat. For that reason, we will be placing our bets on a Maharajas win and so should you.
