With two matches each to go for every team in the Women's Big Bash League, the competition is certainly moving towards its business end. The points table more or less looks settled with the top-three spots already sealed. All teams in the bottom half of the points table will be striving hard to grab that lone fourth spot and battle is going to be intense.
Up next in the competition, Hobart Hurricanes Women are all set to take on Melbourne Renegades Women at Ray Mitchell Oval, Harrup Park, Mackay on 19th November 2021. Both these sides already have their respective fates sealed as far as the league stage is concerned and we might well see them make some changes as well. Regardless, this match is going to be a lot closer than the respective positions of the two sides on the points table suggest and you would not want to miss out on that.
Hobart Hurricanes Women have had as bad a tournament as they could have had and are no longer in the hunt to qualify for the playoffs. In fact, they will do well to avoid the wooden-spoon hereon and will be desperate for a win in the back-end of the tournament.
As it currently stands, they are placed at the bottom-most spot on the points table with a total of seven points and a net run rate of 0.563. They have won just three matches up until now and finishing on a happy note will be their top priority in the two matches they have left to play.
On paper, they did not have a poor team at all, but they have done a really poor job, as far as executing their plans is concerned. Mignon du Preez and Molly Strano have been brilliant individually, but have not had ample support from the rest of the players. Hobart Hurricanes Women have all the firepower available to defeat even the best in the business and if they are able to play to their potential, Melbourne Renegades Women would certainly not have an easy time in this upcoming game.
Rachel Priest, Ruth Johnston, Mignon du Preez, Nicola Carey, Richa Ghosh, Naomi Stalenberg, Molly Strano, Sasha Moloney, Tayla Vlaeminck, Belinda Vakarewa, Amy Smith.
Having already cemented their place in the playoffs, Melbourne Renegades Women are expected to take things a bit easy in their remaining two league matches, largely to provide their senior players with ample rest before the big knockout games. Having said that, they would still want to get the wins under their belt and maintain the momentum, which can play an important role in the shortest format of the game.
The Renegades Women weren't really favorites to top the table before the tournament started and despite a poor start, they have managed to surprise one and all. They are currently placed at the top of the table with 18 points to their name and a terrific net run rate of 0.315.
Harmanpreet Kaur has been singlehandedly carrying Melbourne Renegades Women and she has certainly done a remarkable job at it. Apart from 390 runs that she has scored, she has also picked up 13 wickets, contributing well with the ball too. Eve Jones too has done an excellent job, scoring 197 runs in nine matches at an average of 28.14.
All in all, not only do Melbourne Renegades Women have a good side, but they also have their impact players in form. If they can continue doing how they have, they will be a very difficult side to deal with.
Jemimah Rodrigues, Eve Jones, Courtney Webb, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jess Duffin, Sophie Molineux, Josie Dooley, Ellie Falconer, Rhiann O' Donnell, Ella Hayward, Carly Leeson.

This may not be an important match from the standings' point of view, but both sides will want to come out on top, albeit for contrasting reasons. Melbourne Renegades Women would want to keep their winning run going whereas Hobart Hurricanes Women would want to salvage at least a consolation win in a bid to avoid the wooden spoon. Considering the respective combinations of the two sides on paper and their respective form, betting on a Melbourne Renegades Women win should be the way to go here.
