The points table in Women's T20I Tri-series is stacked beautifully after the conclusion of the first round. Each team now has two more games to play and might also need to focus on net run-rate should things get closer towards the end of the competiton. With Australia finally getting back to the winning ways, the upcoming match between England Women and India Women would be of massive importance. The match between the two sides is to be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne. The last time these two teams met in the tournament, the match went down till the wire with Indian women eventually prevailing over England women. With a probable final spot at stake, both the sides are likely to come out all guns blazing on Friday and a hard-fought contest is certainly on the cards.
England Women displayed immense amount of grit and determination as they handed Australia their fourth loss in T20Is since 2018. While the win for England wasn't as straight-forward as they would have liked, they got the two important points. Sophie Ecclestone and Heather Knight were the picks for the English team and they are likely to play a vital role in tomorrow's encounter as well.
Despite the win, England women would be pretty disappointed that they allowed the match to slip away after they found themselves in a position to dictate terms. Australia women needed to score 40 runs off the final three overs to register a win, which would have been easy to defend on most days, but poor death bowling allowed Australia to tie the match.
While KH Brunt was carted away for 47 runs in her four overs, the rest of English bowlers bowled brilliantly. Natalie Sciver returned with exceptional figures of 3 for 23 in her four overs and was ably assisted by Sarah Glenn as she picked up three wickets as well. In the two matches England have played in the series so far, their bowlers have done a fair job. Their batting, however, has struggled to set the totals and their decision, should they win the toss, could be pretty interesting ni Friday's encounter.
All in all, England women haven't been at their best in the series so far, but have still managed to stay within the thick of things. They would have learnt a loss of lessons after being involved in two close games and a couple of days of break would have given them just enough breathing time. Although England lost the opening encounter, India didn't get their easily and we expect a tough road ahead for India in the upcoming match as well.

After scoring a terrific win over England, Indian Women succumbed to the pressure of putting up a tall total on the board and were restricted to a subpar total. As it stands now, India are placed at the second place on the ladder, but it will all be inconsequential if they lose their remaining two matches.
Against Australia, their batting struggled to score quickly after Shafali Verma was dismissed in the second over of the match. While Smriti Mandhana looked in good touch, no support from Jemimah Rodriques or Harmanpreet Kaur thereafter shifted all the pressure on Mandhana and she was caught in the deep in a quest to score at a rapid rate.
Mandhana's dismissal triggered a collapse as India lost seven wickets in quick succession after that. Eventually, India were restricted to a total of 103, which they tried hard to defend, but Australia toppled the total with four wickets in hand. RS Gayakwad bowled well for India and picked up a couple of wickets for just 18 runs. Other bowlers supported here and and in total, Indian bowlers bowled pretty well collectively, but the score that they were defending was too little to keep Australia from chasing it.

While India showed their class and determination against the three lions, they failed to keep the initiative against the Aussies. Their over-reliance on the likes of Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodriques, and Harmanpreet Kaur was well and truly apparent against Australia. England, on the other hand, showed slight improvement in their second match, but their batting still seemed to be a bit over-reliant on Heather Knight. Performance wise, both the teams are placed neck and neck. However, on paper, England appear to be a slightly better side and are, therefore, our pick to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
