Three matches have gone so far in the 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and surprisingly all of those have turned out to be rather one-sided affairs. England thumped South Africa in the inaugural match of the tournament whereas Pakistan's batting struggle was once again apparent in the second match of the tournament where they were outplayed by the Caribbean team. In the sixth match of the World Cup, we will see England and Pakistan lock horns with the former looking to occupy the top spot in the points table and Pakistan to get off the mark as far as the ladder is concerned. Right before the marquee event began, the two teams met in a bilateral series where England thrashed Pakistan comprehensively resulting in a 4-0 series win. It very well may turn out to be a similar affair and the pressure will be a lot different from what it was in the ODI series. It's an important encounter for both the sides and we expect it to be a lot closer.
With the odds of 7/4 to with the World Cup, England are considered firm favorites to win their maiden title this year. They got their campaign off to a cracking start on Thursday where they comfortably defeated the Proteas in the opening contest of the tournament. While the Proteas were not in the list of favorites, English win over them has certainly kick-started the hosts' campaign and helped the nerves, if there were any.
With almost everyone capable to bat and win the match on his own, England have one of the best batting lineups in the tournament. They have Liam Plunkett and Jofra Archer coming in at number ten and eleven who both are pretty good with the bat. This depth came to their rescue in the last match as well where they somehow managed to cross 300 after the start and stop kind of batting. There were plenty of good partnerships, but the lack of big partnership meant that they had to struggle towards the end of the innings.
Imran Tahir got rid of Jonny Bairstow in the first over of the innings, but Joe Root and Jason Roy never allowed the pressure of losing the first wicket early to creep in. The duo was involved in a brilliant partnership to get their side back into the match before they both got dismissed in quick succession. Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, and Jos Buttler have all been amongst the runs in last few matches which is certainly a huge positive.
Before the tournament started, there were plenty of question marks over their bowling. The inclusion of Jofra Archer who added another dimension to their bowling unit suddenly overhauled it with his pace and accuracy. The likes of Ben Stokes, Liam Plunkett, and Chris Woakes are a perfect combination to bowl with him which was apparent against the Proteas as well. Defending a total which isn't considered too big in English conditions, they won the match by a massive margin of over a hundred runs.
There's a strong reason why England are being considered the favorites to win the title. They have a terrific batting lineup which goes down till the number eleven - something which no other team has. Their batting has done exceedingly well in all of their recent matches and the addition of Jofra Archer has answered the questions over their bowling as well. Unless they get complacent, they'll definitely be the team to beat in the tournament going forward.

Pakistan had plenty of issues to resolve before coming into the tournament and going by their performance in the opening match, those issues have only magnified. They lost to England 4-0 in a bilateral series prior to the World Cup and their start has been far from convincing in this tournament as they lost to West Indies in their first match.
The issues around their batting were highlighted profoundly as none of their batsmen managed to stay at the wicket. The result of which was a small target to chase for the Windies which didn't really require much effort from the Caribbean side.
Batting first on a surface which didn't have much for the bowlers, Pakistan got off to a shocking start, losing all of their batsmen for a total of 105 runs. After the dismissal of Imam ul Haq, there was some sort of recovery with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam both contributing with 22 runs each, but the dismissal of Zaman resulted in a collapse from which the Asian side could never recover. As many as seven of Pakistan's batsmen were dismissed in single digits which speaks volumes about their batting performance on Friday.
While it was a poor batting performance from them, credit must be given to the way West Indies bowlers steamed in to bowl. They bowled fast and short - something where Pakistani batsmen have always been found wanting in.
While there isn't much Pakistan would be looking to take from their first match, their bowling, only one bowler though, was reasonably good. The biggest positive for them was Mohammad Amir's spell who suddenly found rhythm after experiencing a drought of wickets in the last two years. Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz leaked 79 runs in 7.4 overs which is high even in T20s.
All in all, the equation and description for Pakistan stands. They are a beautiful team to watch when they are on a roll and when they aren't - nothing seems to be going for them. They are in dire need of a win in their next match which isn't going to be easy. Having said that, Pakistan are capable of defeating any side on their day which is what they'll be aiming for on Monday.

It's going to be a tricky decision to take after winning the toss. This surface is known to be a batsmen paradise and batting first will be of considerable advantage, unless of course, you do not lose early wickets. With early morning moisture in the surface likely to assist quick bowlers, the team winning the toss might slightly be inclined towards bowling first and grab the early advantage in the game.

The fact that teams batting first often end up scoring in excess of 320 every now then speaks volumes about the paradise this venue is for the batsmen. This is the ground which boasts of most 400+ scores in ODI Cricket and we expect another one to be scored during this World Cup. This is also the same venue where England smashed a record total of 481 for 6 against Australia around the same time last year. Having said all that, it's going to be a morning start on Monday and we can expect some early assistance for the seamers - something which we saw in New Zealand - Bangladesh and Australia - Afghanistan match. A total in excess of 300 is definitely on the cards and the team batting first will be eyeing that psychological figure.
With so many good wicket-keeper batsmen available to choose from, it is one of those rare games where the new Dream11 rules will come into the picture. Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler have both been in terrific form in recent times and omitting any of those could turn out to be a huge mistake. In fact, considering the fact that Bairstow was dismissed for a duck in the last game, he will be hungrier for runs and is, therefore, vice-captain for our lineup.
Picking up batsmen for this encounter wasn't as straight-forward as a few key decision like the omission of Joe Root and Imam Ul Haq came into consideration. The other batsmen have shown better performances leading up this game and therefore are picked in our Dream11 side.
Ben Stokes' performance in the last game was out of the ordinary and the fact that he gets to bowl ten overs every game and comes into the bat at a reasonably high batting position makes in preferred pick in any Dream11 team. This was apparent in the last encounter as well where he delivered in all three facets of the game.
Mohammad Amir bowled with pace and rhythm in the last match and appeared to be the most dangerous bowlers of the lot for Pakistan. Besides him, Hasan Ali has done well for the men in green in recent times and will be bowlers to watch from Pakistan in the upcoming fixture. From England, Jofra Archer looked a notch above everyone else and troubled almost every South African bowler. He is our choice for the third bowler in our side.

Considering the results of the first two matches of the tournament, England certainly look to be firm favorites to win the upcoming encounter. Having said that, one game is too little a sample size to come to a conclusion about how things are going to unfold going ahead in the tournament. England are coming off a 4-0 victory over Pakistan in same conditions which will certainly inflate the hosts' confidence. Both the sides are well aware of the strength and weaknesses of each other it isn't going to be easy for either of the sides. While the two sides have a bowling unit that is on par, England definitely score higher when it comes to batting. They have the home advantage and that coupled with the reasons mentioned above make England firm favorites to come on top in the upcoming encounter.
