With Cape Cobras registering a surprise win over Lions, the Momentum One Day Cup is set for an exciting finish. There's just one game remaining in the group stage and the result of that game will govern who qualifies to the semifinals. This upcoming match, which is to be played between Cape Cobras and Warriors will be an all to play for the match. The winner will march through to the semis and the loser will crash out of the tournament.
Considering the stakes involved, both sides are expected to come out hard at each other and a cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards. The match between the two sides is to be played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, on 30th January 2021.
Cobras stunned Lions in their recent encounter and consequently announced their candidature for a semifinal spot. They had a good team going into their match against the Lions but that team had not delivered results up until then. The win didn't change their position on the points table, but kept them alive in the tournament. As it stands, they are placed at the third spot with five points and a net run-rate of -0.408.
The Cobras used all their experience against the Lions, be it with the ball or with the bat. Their most experienced played contributed well with the bat as Cobras posted a towering total on the board. Batting first, the Cobras posted a total of 284 runs on the board, the total which they defended with considerable ease. Against a power-packed batting lineup of Lions, the Cobras' bowlers needed to stick to their lines and lengths and they did a terrific job.
All in all, Cobras lacked application in their first two matches, but now that they have found form, they would want to build some momentum. Although they lack experience with the ball, their batting can put any kind of opposition under pressure. If they are able to put a similar sort of performance tomorrow as well, the Warriors are going to find it difficult to defeat Cobras in the upcoming contest.

Warriors would have desperately wanted Cobras to go down against Lions, but that didn't happen. Just like Cobras the Warriors too have won just one match up until now. However, they have an added advantage that their win came against the same side that they are going to be up against in this upcoming match. They have five points written against their name with a net run-rate of -0.208. Having said that, all of that is going to be inconsequential going into the upcoming match as it is a virtual knock-out.
The Warriors played their last match a couple of days ago and lost that match quite comprehensively. Even though a day's break is not huge by any standards, but that would have allowed the Warriors to ponder upon the mistake they made in the earlier matches. In the last match, their batsmen failed to put up a challenging total on the board. Their bowlers toiled hard, but the Lions' batting was too good on the day.
On paper, the Warriors have a terrific team, but they too are struggling with consistency and understandably so. Most of the players had not played for a long time before the series and that has been apparent. Having said that, the Warriors have a decent side that can push Cobras out of the tournament.

This is a virtual quarter-final and the importance of this match cannot be understated. The Warriors have defeated Cobras before, but the Cobras are coming off a terrific win in their recently concluded match. We believe that momentum can play a massive role in the shortest format of the game and the Cobras have an advantage there. Plus they have a potent batting unit that seems to be in prime form. For those reasons, placing your money on Cobras' win should be the way to go here.
