The two top teams of Super Smash 2021-22 are going to be playing against each other in this next match. The Canterbury Vikings have won six out of the eight matches that they have played and are on a four-match winning streak. They will be taking on the Northern Knights who have also won six matches but also have points from a no-result. They are on a six-match winning streak and are probably the form team of the tournament.
The cricket betting sites are offering identical odds for them and so they also expect a very close match to be played.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Canterbury Kings vs Northern Knights Super Smash 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on the 21st of January 2022.
Canterbury Kings have been tremendous in the Super Smash 2021-22 season. A number of their batsmen have performed well and are helping the team get to good totals while their bowling always seems to have that little bit of edge required to prosper in crunch situations.
With Tom Latham joining the team, the batting looks even better than it was. Of course, players like Daryl Mitchell, Cam Fletcher, Cole McConchie, and Michael Hay are all equally as good in the T20 format as well. This gives the Kings a tremendous amount of depth and power to call upon.
Matt Henry is the big name that you want to keep an eye on in the bowling attack. He brings pace and a brilliant ability to bowl in the end-overs that can be very useful indeed. Todd Astle, Ed Nuttall, and Daryl Mitchell ensure that there is a lot of quality in the bowling department as well.
We were a bit surprised to Mitchell bat at number three after his exploits at the top during the T20 World Cup and he could maybe move up just a bit to take advantage of the powerplay.
Chad Bowes, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Leo Carter, Cole McConchie, Cameron Fletcher, Henry Shipley, Matt Henry, William O'Rourke, Ed Nuttall, Todd Astle.
An excellent bowling performance in the previous match by the Northern Knights ensured that their winning streak continued. Anurag Verma, Mitch Santner, and Joe Walker were all brilliant during this match. They also have Ish Sodhi in the lineup who is an international bowler and very successful in the T20 format. We think it is fair to say that the Northern Knights have the upper hand when it comes to the bowling lineup.
Tim Seifert, Jeet Raval, Colin de Grandhomme, and Joe Carter form a strong top-order for the Northern Knights. They also have Scott Kuggeleijn, a genuine all-rounder at this level of the game, to help balance out their team.
The Northern Knights are very strong and it is going to be hard to stop them if they get going but we do think their batting can be put under a bit of pressure. Tim Seifert and Colin de Grandhomme have not had the kind of Super Smash you might expect and a couple of early wickets is all that would be needed to maybe trigger a collapse.
Katene Clarke, Tim Seifert, Jeet Raval, Mitchell Santner, Colin de Grandhomme, Henry Cooper, Scott Kuggeleijn, TG Southee, Ish Sodhi, Joe Walker, Trent Boult.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

The weather in Christchurch is going to be very good for cricket. There is no chance of rain predicted and so we should not have any interruptions. The pitch at the Hagley Oval is excellent for cricket. It has a bit of pace and bounce to keep the bowlers interested but is still loaded in favor of the batsmen. The large playing area is also another feature that helps keep the balance between the bat and ball.
A score of around 160 should be seen as par.
We are going to bet on the Canterbury Kings to win this match. Both teams are quite evenly matched and are in terrific form but we think the batting unit of the Canterbury Kings is a just a bit stronger now that Latham Mitchell have joined the side.
Bet on the Canterbury Kings to win.
