Just like the Men's edition of the tournament, the Women's edition of the Hundred is gearing up for an exciting finish. The competition is slowly but steadily brewing up and the mid-part of the points table is packed with several teams in similar positions. Up next in the competition, Birmingham Phoenix Women are all set to take on Welsh Fire Women in what is a very important match for the two sides. The match will be played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham on Monday, 9th August 2021.
Placed at the bottom of the points table, Birmingham Phoenix's campaign is over. Even if they win both of their remaining fixtures, they will not be able to make it to the top four, making both of their remaining fixtures dead rubbers. Having said that, they would still want to hold themselves high and bow out of the tournament on a winning note.
As it currently stands, Birmingham Phoenix have won only one match thus far and have two points to their name. Thanks to the four losses, their net run-rate is well in negative. They are coming off a massive defeat at the hands of Oval Invincibles and will be itching to get back to the winnings ways.
Up until now, the Phoenix have underperformed with the bat and that has been the primary reason for their poor performance thus far. On paper, they have a decent side but have lacked execution. They now have nothing to lose and will be at their most dangerous in the coming matches. If they can perform to their potential, Welsh Fire will have their work cut out.

With two wins in five matches, Welsh Fire are currently placed fifth on the points table. Their net run rate, which is -0.217 isn't good either, might become a deciding factor later in the tournament, if they are not able to register at least two more wins.
Just like the Phoenix, Welsh Fire too are coming off a massive loss at the hands of Trent Rockets and will be keen to bounce back to the winning ways. Batting first, Welsh Fire managed to score just 102 runs, a total which was chased down with considerable ease at the end.
All in all, this match would arguably decide Welsh Fire's fortune in the tournament. They have everything to play for as a loss here will mean curtains for them. On paper, they have a decent side that has blown hot and cold. If they can be at their best on Monday, this challenge might prove to be a little too steep for Birmingham Phoenix.
