We are just about moving into the business end of the league stage in Women's Super Smash and things are certainly getting tighter as far as the race for the playoffs is concerned. While Wellington Blaze Women and Otago Sparks Women have already qualified, Auckland Hearts Women and Canterbury Magicians are well in it, fighting each other for the only remaining spot.
As they take on Otago Sparks, the next match is going to be pretty important for Auckland Hearts Women. The match between the two sides is to be played on January 15th 2021 at the Eden Park, Auckland.
Auckland Hearts got off to a fantastic start in the Women's Super Smash, winning both of their opening two matches. Post that, however, they lost the plot as they managed to win only one of their next four games. They will still be pretty content that they have four matches to go and have 12 points to their name. Their net run rate of -0.342 might well prove to be a factor in determining the final playoffs scenario and the Hearts would want to improve on that.
On paper, Auckland Hearts are a little too over-reliant on Holly Huddleston and that was seen in their last outing as well. The likes of Lauren Down and Katie Perkins will need to be a lot more consistent going forward, especially with each match gaining in importance.
All in all, Auckland Hearts Women have a decent side with a couple of good match-winners available. They do depend heavily on them, but can be difficult to step if they get going. They will want the likes of Holly Huddleston, Katie Perkins, and Lauren Down to be at their best in this upcoming match and if that happens, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.

Otago Sparks may not be occupying the top of the ladder at the moment, but they have simply been brilliant. With six wins from eight matches, they are currently placed at the second spot with 24 points to their name. Alongside that they have a decent net run rate of 0.505 and are already certain of a berth in the playoffs.
Otago Sparks Women have lost only a couple of matches in the tournament thus far with both of those losses coming at the hands of Wellington Blaze. Against all other sides though, the Sparks have tremendously well and will thus be brimming with confidence. They have a pretty good side on paper as well with experience available in both departments of the game. They would want to register a win here to have a shot at the top of the table position. If they are able to play to their potential, getting past them could be really difficult.

Even though the two sides are placed next to each other on the points table, they have had contrasting campaigns thus far. While Auckland Hearts Women have looked good against only a couple of sides, the Sparks have been brilliant. Also, the Sparks are a better-balanced side on paper. Considering the factors stated above and the overall combination of the two sides, a bet on the Otago Sparks win should be the way to go here.
