RESISTANT ACUPUNCTURE MANIPULATION Shi Yuguang (Department of Acupuncture, The First Hospital, Tianjin College of TCM, Tianjin) Resistant acupuncture manipulation is an acupuncture method getting on its work in the responding activities. This manipulation is used to treat various acute and chronic closed injures of soft tissues. Locating the resistant acupuncture point is to ask the patient to do the algogenesic action, and then search for the most painful spot in maintaining the most aching posture. This pain spot that was selected by the special method of locating acupuncture point is called as "active pain point". The acupuncture manipulation with high frequency tremor should be used with the frequency of over 200 times per minute after puncturing the "active pain point" to hypoderm. While getting on this acupuncture manipulation, tell the patient to do the above action repeatedly until the disappearance and remission of this aching sensation. This special acupuncture manipulation is called as "active acupuncture manipulation". Because of puncturing actively, however the posture ought to have a responding active posture. For example when treating lumbago by acupuncture, the patient should be told to stand and do the action of a bending or lifting of head. This special acupuncture posture is called as "active posture" which has difference from any other static posture of acupuncture manipulations. This acupuncture manipulation originates from "Lingshu" (The Canon of the Spiritual Pivot) where "the meridinal-syndrome in exogenous febrile disease" is described to be treated by puncturing the pain point, but the differentiation between this acupuncture manipulation and the manipulation described in "Lingshu" is to stick out the three words-"activities". The advantage of this acupuncture manipulation is to diagnose and treat the diseases only by one 1.5 cun filiform needle and several alcohol cotten balls at any time and anywhere. In addition, this manipulation is not to be limited by instruments and conditions. In this article, 52 cases of closed soft tissue injuries had been treated by this acupuncture manipulation. The general effective rate was 98%, including 21 cases of recovery, 30 cases of improvement, 1 cases of ineffectiveness. Generally the therapeutic effect appeared remarkably after the treatment through this acupuncture manipulation for 1-2 times only, and it was the best in the treatment of lumbar sprain especially. In addition, the course of disease was shorter, the therapeutic effect was better. This acupuncture manipulation should not be used in the severe lacerated wound of tendons and muscles, fracture and companied with internal hemorrhage. |
