Redhot acupuncture is performed with a specially made stainless steel needle. After the needle tip is heated to red hot on an alcohol lamp we may turn the needle stem with the thumb. The needle shaft will be recoiled to its presetting position. And then, one may use the needle to puncture into the acupoint chosen. In order to adjust the needle length we may remove the fixing cap, turn the body of the needle and adjust the needle tip to a desired length, and then put on the fixing cap. There are 7 sized needle shafts. For needles from No. 1 to 5, we may remove the fixing cap and change a suitable needle directly. For No, 6 or 7, we may change it from the lower end of the needle body. B, Principles for applications: 1, Depth of puncture: For acupoints on the limbs, waist or abdomen it should be 3-15 mm. As for those on the chest and back, it should be 3-6 mm in depth. 2, Date for application: For chronic diseases it should be once a week; for acute diseases it may be applied once every other day, but no more than 3 applications should be applied, 3, Number of acupoints applied: For acute diseases it is better to take 2-4 acupoints in every application: for chronic diseases it may take 8-12 acupoints at a time.
