NATURAL DEATH OF DISEASE TO MERIDIAN CIRCULATION (ZIWULIUZHU)

This paper reviewed 2,668 natural deaths admitted for various diseases in 14 medical units of Fujian, 1977-1981, and explored their relations of death time to monthly section, solar terms, daily time in order, internal organs and meridians. The preliminary results are as follows:

1. The distribution of sex and age of the dead has a specified regularity, namely, the number of the male dead is larger than that of the female, their ratio being 1.64:1, the number of the dead in the age group (0-29 years) is the largest, considering that male and body of pure Yang may be easy to die from Yang exhaustion.

2. The peak of the monthly distribution of the number of death is in August. This month is in the period of the intense heat of summer. The fact also proves the high environmental temperature is one of the main external factors easily to cause death by Yang exhaustion.

3. A specified relation between the death and the solar terms: Statistical results show that the number of the dead in seven solar terms (the summer solstice, the beginning of spring, cold dew, the winter solstice and pure brightness) is significantly larger than that in the control (P<0.05-0.001), especially, in summer solstice and winter solstice, summer solstice-Ying formation run from Yang into Ying; while winter solstice-Yang formation, from Ying into Yang. The transformation period in growth and decline of Yin and Yang plays a definite turning role in deterioration of diseases. Thus, mastering the rule of the transformation of Ying and Yang is important significant in the prevention and cure diseases and the prolongation of life.

4. A specified relation between the death and the different regions: From the distribution shape of mortality curve, the peak line in south Fujian is the more distinct pattern and presents a regular normal distribution, the peak indicated on it being in August of the year, In view of subtropical zone in which south Fujian is located, this fact further proved a specified correlation of high atmospheric temperature on death rate. Thus, to prevent the surrounding of human body from harmful environmental temperature has a positive meaning.

5. From distribution pattern of 2,668 mortal cases in the twelve earthly branches daily-time in order, the number of the dead in the first and seventh of the twelve earthly branches by diseases is reduced to minimum. Once both times elapsed, the mortality immediately reaches a high level. Therefore, by mastering this regularity of the disease, locating an acupoint on time, in curing the diseases we can certainly achieve good results.

6. The relation of internal organs and meridians, to which the diseases belong, to the twelve earthly branches: (daily time in order) as for different diseases, their common rule is that the mortality of every disease which subordinate to its corresponding time of viscera and meridian is relatively decreased, in case over the time the numbers of the dead of the diseases gradually increase and finally reach its summit. From these facts we can realize an actual sense that through strengthening physical training and perfecting every function of the internal organs and meridians might attain a prolongation of life and a reduction of death of. diseases.
