THE INFLUENCE OF STIMULATION FREQUENCIES IN ELECTROACUPUNCTURE ANESTHESIA ON THE RESULT OF THROIDECTOMIESZhang Zheyuan (The Hospital of Ningxia Medical College, Yinchiian) To compare the influence of various frequencies or stimulation on one particular acupuncture site on the effect of electroacupuncture anesthesia in thyroidectomies, we used Hegu and Neiguan sites in 150 cases, using 200-500 times/min, 2,000-5.000/mm and 50,000, 90,000 min in 3 series of 50 cases each to observe the anesthetic effect of the various frequencies. The results showed that all the three series using the various frequencies revealed comparatively good anesthetic effect, without any significant difference. The effect of electroacupuncture anesthesia may be influenced by various factors, but the duration of surgery is significantly correlated. The shorter the duration of operation, the better will be the effect. Conversely, if the operation is prolonged, the effect will be poor. We believe that fatigue of the patients with their necks extended backward too long. is the cause of lowered effect of elecroacupuncture anesthesia in thyroidectomy. |
