EIGHT THERAPEUTIC METHODS OF LINGGUI

The eight therapeutic methods of Linggui (miraculous turtle) is a way based mainly on the eight acupoints on the eight extra-meridians. In application, the acupoints should be selected in line with the different periods of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. The ancient philosophical concept and the theory of TCM are extensively and flexibly put into the eight therapeutic methods of Linggui. Its essence lies in entity, integrity of the human body and their close interrelations with the natural environment. In this method, the laws of the changes of sufficiency and deficiency due to Qi (vital energy) and blood and opening and closing of Shu Xue (Shu acupoints) are studied and deduced by means of mathematical operation in accordance with the theory of Yin and Yang, the theory of Bagua, the eight diagrams), growth of five elements, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches and the theory of motion of five elements

In this paper, the theory of the eight therapeutic methods of Linggui has been systematically approached. The origin, meaning, content and theoretical basis of eight therapeutic methods have been interpreted. Acupoint-selecting methods are introduced. Through typical cases, the main points of clinical application have been suggested.
