CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE PERICARDIUM MERIDIAN OF HAND-JUE YIN AND ARRHYTHMIAWang Zongxue, Xu Pingnan, Wang Xinhua (The First Hospital, Henan Medical College, Zhengzhou) It is very common to treat cardiovascular diseases with acupuncture and moxibustion. Neiguan and Ximen are usually selected. In order to study the other acupoints of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-lueyin to treat cardiovascular diseases, Daling and Quze were selected to treat arrhythmia. The clinical effects were observed. This article described 30 cases of arrhythmia, 18 male and 12 female. The oldest is 65 years old while the youngest is 10 years old. Out of the 30 cases, arrhymia myocarditis account for 7 cases, coronary heart disease for 4 cases, rheumatic heart disease for 1 case and the others for 18 cases. The longest course of disease was 12 years while the shortest 7 months. Subordinate aeupomt and the manipulation methods:Daling and Quze were used as the main acupoints. Sanzhong was the subordinate ac-upoint if the patient felt stuffy in the chest; dizzy, Baihui and Fengchi; and insomnia, Shenmen. Reducing method had been used to treat the patient with tachycardia or palpitation while reenforcing method was suitable for the patient with bradycardia or with intermittent pulse. Result:Out of the 30 cases of arrhythmia, the rate of remarkable effect was 33% (10 cases); The effective rate 50% (15 cases) and ineffective 16.7% (5 cases). The total effective rate was 83.4%. There were 22 cases who had a complete electrocardiogram study. After treatment the electrocardiogram of 15 cases (68%) showed normal or improved and 7 cases (32%) showed no change, Discussion:Pericardium is the peripheral organization of the heart, which may exert the function of the heart. When the external noxious factors involve the heart, it will be the first victim. The pericardium meridian of Hand-Jueyin originates from the chest, emerging the pericardium "descends to the axilla, further downward to the cubital fossa, and then to the forearm between the tendons of m. palmaris longus and m. flexor carpi radialis, ending in the palm. From here, it passes along the middle finger right down to its tip. So Daling and Quzhe are capable of treating cardiovascular diseases. According to the patient's insufficiency or excessiveness, the principle of reinforcing for insufficiency and reducing for excessiveness, applying the manipulating methods of reinforcing and reducing will make a patient to relieve anxiety. It was also noticed that in needling the points mentioned above the curative effect for the patient with tachycardia or extrasystole is superior to that for the patient with bradycardia. |
