25 patients with Primary incising pain after thoracic or abdominal surgical operation were investigated. They were divided randomly into following groups in which different analgesic methods were used.

Group A: Microwave acupuncture by a microwave acupuncture apparatus

Group B: Suggestion of microwave

Group C: Dolantinum 50 mg im.

Group D: Acupoint laser irradiation

Group E: Electro-acupuncture

Three grade scoring method was used. After surgical operation, patients were examined every 10 min. and asked about their sense of pain. Blood pressures and pulse rates were measured. Time of observation was 30 min. in all. Relative values of variation were analysed statistically.

Results: A definite analgesic effect was obtained through the use of microwave acupuncture. But its action was not as intensive as Dolantinum administration, electro-acupuncture, and laser irradiation. There was a difference between the effects of microwave group and the suggestion of microwave group. This was probably due to language suggestion or acupoint needling.
