ACUPUNCTURE PATIENTS WITH CERTAIN GASTRIC DISEASES Xu Guansun, Wang Kerning (InsSiiute of Acupuncture and Meridian, Anhui College of TCM, Hefei) Using an untraumatic method of the surface electrode unipolar leads, the EGG were recorded in 45 normal subjects and 91 patients of some gastric diseases. The double modulated effects of acupuncture on EGG were observed. The relative specificity of acupuncture at acupoint of Zusanii along Ventriculus Meridian was explored. The results were as follows: 1. Effect of acupuncture on EGG in normal subjects. Average value of frequency and amplitude of gastric basic electric rhythm was 3.06±0.23 cyclc/min (X±SD) and 153+47 uv in all 45 normal subjects. When the acupoint Zusanli was acupunctured, change of EGG frequency and amplitude showed that in all of the normal subjects there were an increase in 6.7% decrease 84.4% and invariable 8.9%. Decreased effect of acupuncture occurred in a preacupuncture higher level of EGG frequency and amplitude, and increased effect of acupuncture occurred in a lower level. It was considered that effects of acupuncture of Zusanii acupoint on the EGG were both inhibitory and excitatory depending upon the preacu-punctural states. Moreover, the double effects might restore the gastric function to normal. 2. Effect of acupuncture on EGG in cases of some gastric disease. 91 cases, including 12 cases with gastrelcoma, 15 cases with duodenal ulcer, 22 cases with surficial gastritis, 23 cases with atrophic gastritis and 19 cases with gastric cancer, which were clinically diagnosed by means of endoscopy and mucosal pathologic cell examination. The frequency and amplitude of preacupunctural EGG in gastrelcoma and duodenal ulcer groups were at a higher level above normal value. Needling Zusanii induced the effect of decrease of EGG in parameters and turned it to approach the normal range. The preacupunctural EGG parameters in surficial gastritis and gastric cancer group were at a lower level below normal range. Needling Zusanii might enhance EGG parameters and restore it to approach the normal level. These data further elucidated that needling point Zusanii produced double modulated effects in gastric function. 3. Inhibitory effect of puncturing different points on EGG amplitude in cases with gastrelcoma and duodenal ulcer. Among 27 cases with higher EGG amplitude, needling Weishu resulted in a decrease 83.2% in amplitude, Zhongwan 79.9%, Zusanii 72.8%, Pishu 67.4%, Eiangmen 51.3%, Tou-wei 36.7%, Yanglingquan 28.5% as well as control point (at a place between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpals) 13.3%. The inhibitory effect of puncturing points along Ventriculus Meridian was more marked than the control point and point of the extra meridian. It is revealed that a relative specificity of point might occur. |
