ACUPUNCTURE OF PATIENTS WITH APOPLEXYQiu MaoUang, Sheng Canruo, Li Zhongren, Zhang Beshun, Li Jieru, Li Yutang (The Hospital and Department of Acupuncture, Namng College of TCM, fiangsu) In general it is known that acupuncture is effective on apoplexy, yet its mechanism is waiting for further research. This paper presents the material of observation on the effect of acupuncture on the change of rheoencephalogram hemodynamics, blood lipids and lipo-protein electrophoresis of 34 cases of apoplexy (involving cerebral capillary embolism 27, apoplexy 7) and a duration of one month of treatment was taken as a course. In practice, these acupoints used were as follows: Shigou, Baihui, Shixuan, Shierjingxue, Yongquan were for acute stage while Jianyu, Quchi, Shousanii, Waiguan, Hegu were for the convalescent stage or the sequelae of paralysis of upper limbs and Huantiao, Biguan, Yangling-quan, Sanyinjiao, Zusanii, Juegu, Taichong, etc for that of lower limbs. To some patients, we gave treatment based on differentiation of syndroms. Method:applied 4-5 acupoints of these acupoints mentioned above once daily, retaining needles for 30 min., gave manipulation again in the time of the midst of retaining and took a rest for 2 days after treatment for 5 days; Applied reducing method for the acute, even or reinforcing method to the affected side for the convalescent stage or sequelae. Result:The mean time required for clinical symptoms to be eliminated was 6.83 days, the shortest being 3 days and the longest being 15 days; the mean time for muscular activity to be improved was 10.9 days, the shortest being 3 days and the longest 30 days. Total effectively rate was 93.3%. Before and after manipulation, the data showed a conspicuous change. The deviation of the value of K equation of the relative viscosity of blood, hematocrit value and E. S. R (P<0.01) gave its evidence of significance in statistics. It had been proved preliminary that acupuncture was able to improve the condition of consistency, viscosity and aggregation of blood to a great or certain extent, and also that acupuncture was able to promote the supply of blood flow of brain, thus consolidating the blood circulation to eliminate blood stasis, which did much good to patients on adjusting Yin and Yang and with. earlier recovering. There was obvious change of REG for affected side in the different period of time in acupuncture practice, the deviation of value of the change of ascending time (P<0.01), rate of capacity of blood flow inpouring (0.01<P<0.05), ascending angle (0.01<P<0.05) and vertex angle (P<0.01) were significant in statistics. The value of ascending time and vertex angle (P<0.01) at about 10 min. after withdrawing of needle was significant. Thus it suggested that acupuncture was able to improve the elasticity and tonicity of brain vessels, and was able to cause them to dilate, thus promoting the blood flow, invigorating the blood and circulation of brain, then the fractional pressure of oxygen will be raised and the supply of nourishment to brain will get better, thus enhancing the recovery of its tissue. During the practice, we got the best effect at the time space on the retaining of needle from 20 min. to 30 min., which suggested us that the retaining of needle was important in treatment. In statistics, acupuncture might have not significant effect on blood lipids (P>0.05), yet most of the patients were improved or became better to a certain extent. |
