This paper reports the result of treatment in 138 cases of cervical spondylosis by acupuncture at JiaJi and Yanglao points. Among them 50 were males and 88 females. 124 cases were older than 40 years of age, the others below 40, the youngest being 18 years old, the oldest 68. The courses of disease were varied from 1 week to 10 years. The diagnosis were conformed in 58 cases by roentgenography being showed evidences of hypertrophic changes in the cervical vertebra.

Points to be selected: the JiaJi was chosen as the principal point and Yanglao as auxiliary one.

Method: All the patients were divided into four groups as follows:

Group I. the Electronic Acupuncture Apparatus Model G 6805 was used for the patients with acute severe pain. Its cathode electrode connected with the needle inserted into the jiaji point and the anode with the Yanglao point. The electric amperage (mA) was taken moderate, its frequency as 200 times per minute, once daily for 10 successive days.

Group II. bilateral JiaJi points were injected with 5 ml 10% glucose solution once -every 4 days, 10 times as a course. Such maneuver was applied to the old and weak patients with dizziness.

Group III. 2 ml of 5-10% Radix Angelicae Sinensis solution was injected into the points, once every 2 days for 10 times, for the patients with "rheumatoid syndrome".

Group IV. Moxibustion with warming needle was applied to the patients with mild pain and chronic course.

Therapeutic effect: Of 138 cases treated with acupuncture, 21(15%) were cured, 57(41%) were very effective, 55(40%) improved and 5(4%) failure. The total effective rate was 96%.

Discussion: the Jiaji point is just located in the interval between the courses of the Du-mai and Taiyang foot meridian. Anatomically, the Jiaji points are located just at the interval of vertebra cervica from where the cervical neurodokon started. The Dumai and Taiyang of (foot) meridian pass through laterally near the point. The Yanglao is the Xi point (cleft point) of Taiyang (hand) meridian. It is located at the site where the anastomotic branch between nerves cutaneous antebrahii dorsalis and nerves cubital dorsalis of dorsum manus distributed. So, needling this two points may evoke the propagated sensations of Dumai and Taiyang (hand) meridian and Taiyang of hand of (foot) meridian. That is, in clinically it may relieve the adhesions between neurodokon and soft tissues, relax the spasm of muscle and release the myalgia.
