ACUPOINT INJECTION ANAESTHESIACheng Fengmei, Fu Chengkai, Cao Xiyu, Sheng Canruo (The Hospital of Nan j ing College of TCM, Nan j ing) In recent four years, the research on point anesthesia applied to thyroidectomy on the front neck has been carried out in our hospital on the basis of acupuncture anaesthesia. 50 cases with similar general conditions wore chosen for clinical analysis. The following points were selected for anesthesia: Tiantu, Futu bilaterally, and Shuitu bilaterally. Three kinds of anaesthetics were used respectively iin three groups: Toad-cake Venenum Bufonis for 20 cases, complex solution Lidocaine, Dicaine and Procaine) for another 20 cases and Pro-caine for the rest. It was discovered that: 1) The quantity of anaesthetics used in all cases was within 15 ml; 2) In the group using Toad-cake Venenum Bufonis, 18 cases got excellent results, while 2 cases got good results. In the group using complex solution, 19 cases got excellent results, while 1 case got good results. In the group using procaine, 6 cases got good results, but 4 cases got relatively poor results; 3) During operation, only in the group using Toad-cake venenum Bufonis the pulse rate was increased about 20 times per minute on an average. Complications: Brief hoarseness occurred in 3 cases and Homer's Syndrome in 2 cases. To sum up, 1) Point anaesthesia is worthy to be popularized, because it requires less quantity of anesthetics, has satisfactory effects, but fewer complications, and ensures smooth operations, 2) The effect of Toad-cake Venenum Bufonis injected into points as an anesthetic is obviously better than that of Procaine, and is close to that of the complex solution. The application of this method is still uncommonly seen in China, and it is a new approach to. herbal anaesthesia. |
