Diary of a Manics Fan at Move - from Elizabeth's Diary

sneaky muso

They played Judge Y'rself :) yay! We arrived at half 11 and queued sitting on the binliner I'd brought from home. 3.20 we ran to the front on Nickys side, standing next to these German girls in WAAF uniforms, very stylish, though in my black socks and feather boa I have no competitors. Kinesis, the Mars Volta and Teenage Fanclub depressed me firstly cos we are Manics fans and don't want to hear shite from Bolton and secondly the Mars Volta made one girl faint cos of their high pitched squeelings. At this point I spotted Wayne Coyne of Flaming Lips fame watching the tight trousered ones from the side of the stage, I pointed him out to Joanne and he smiled and waved back. He has a lovely aura you know.

After Super Furry Animals finished Flaming Lips came on and I love that band. Wayne started off with a really cute speech about how we should give him a chance even though we were only there to see the Manics. I never realised they set their own equipment up before. They sang lovely yoshimi and I shouted the words. Poor guys, must've been hard for them out there. Then they sang happy birthday and did the placenta thing. I am now going to write to the strange man called Wayne, I think I love him.

So to the Manics. Nicky had on a lovely pink camouflage arrangement. James had changed his white top that we saw when they soundchecked (yes we are sad, we watched through the fence) into a green creation and black pants. Sean, poor Sean I only saw the flashings of sticks but shouted him, and he was wearing his headphones underneath his pale blue baseball hat, a neutral coloured shirt and lovely arms as usual.

Setlist: You Love Us, Die In The Summertime, Motorcycle Emptiness, The Masses Against The Classes, Ocean Spray, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, Judge Y'rself, Little Baby Nothing, La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A Sigh), Take The Skinheads Bowling, Tsunami, Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky, It's So Easy, Prologue To History, Everything Must Go, This Is Yesterday, which I shed a tear to I'm ashamed to say. Nicky noticed me at this point and smiled at me his sexy grin, and I smiled and waved back.

You Stole The Sun From My Heart, was this where James jumped off of stage?? and said something about, I need to smell you. A Design For Life was amazing as usual, it was worth the long waits required in these festval do's. Joanne kept shouting 'Jaaaaaaaames' in my ear though we were on Nicky's side, as I made her go there. The Manics loving camera man was there again, and I didn't want the set to end :(
