Bega Falls is located at P-5 Mabuhay Prosperidad Agusan del Sur, it is another majestic falls discovered in Caraga Region.The name has the magical power to drop men in her beauty. The fairy tale stories involves a beautiful fairy attracted by many men, once they go with her they went all the way to the falls and will not comeback. The word 'bega' in english to flirt. Bega Falls has been a tourist attraction for locals but has never been publicly exposed to other tourists in the Philippines. The place is home to at least 8 small springs and 25 waterfalls, where only a few are accessible to visitors for now. How to get to Bega Falls Jump-off point to Bega Falls is the Awa Junction (see green pin on the map above) of Maharlika Hiway, located in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur province. If you are coming from Butuan City, you can take a bus bound for Davao and tell the driver to drop you off at Awa Junction in Prosperidad. From Butuan, Prosperidad is the town right after Bayugan City. If you are coming from Davao City, you can take a bus bound for Butuan City and tell the conductor to drop you off at Awa Junction in Prosperidad. From Davao, Prosperidad is the town right after San Fancisco (San Franz). The only transportation option to reach Bega Falls is the habal-habal, a single motorcycle. There's a habal-habal terminal at Awa Junction. Approach the drivers and tell them that you wish to go to Bega Falls in Barangay Mabuhay. Fare as of October 2014 is P100.00 per person per way, or P200.00 per person for a return trip. We suggest that you hire the habal-habal for a return trip. The driver will wait for you at the access road to the falls. Please don't forget to add a tip for the driver for his waiting time.
Puting Buhangin Cave. It is located in Poblacion, Prosperidad. It consents of three sections of different characteristic. One of the challenging characters is the unending running stream inside the cave and nature proofs of varied depths. Accesible infront of the Prosperidad Municpal Hall. This cave is also known as Inepan Cave, came from a manobo term “Inepan” which means subterranean cave where creek submerge inside the cave. Located at Brgy. Lucac,San Francisco. this cave is generally a wet cave. For the Lumads, this is a ritual place of the “Baylan” (priest) and only a “Baylan” can enter this cave. This cave was claimed by Faustino Espana Sr., known as Datu Anawa Kalipay who was married to a Maguinda Clan. Datu Anwa Kalipay died sometime in 1999 at the age of 120 but his remains mysteriously did not decomposed up to the present. His dead body can be found at the top of the hill, at Sitio Durian, Lucac inside a nipa hut, Kilometer away from the cave. Upon request of the Espana family, the cave was named Datu Anawa Kalipay in honor of Faustino Espana Sr. The cave is about 800 meters from the main entrance to the exit however the main chamber of the cave is yet to be explored. It was sealed by water and equipment is needed to pursue its explorations. It has two (2) story chambers full of fresh stalactites and stalagmites of different formations. An elephant like formation, spaceship formation, different kinds of horn etc. An Altar like structure can be found inside the cave.
The Gibong River is filled with greenery right up along its banks. The stream is connected to Binaba Falls. It is also the water supply irrigating some 60 square kilometers of rice fields in different municipalities in the province. You can explore the stretch of the river by boat. Gibong River ??" It is an opening to the Binaba Falls that also provide as the water irrigation to several rice fields. River banks are rich of untouched vegetation as you make the journey the flowing river. The Binaba Falls is the part or Gibong River and can be found at the foot of a mountain. It has clear water flowing from springs. It is ideal for bathing. You can also ride a boat to explore the Gibong river.
