Stalking
New Hampshire's
Historical Markers

      Pick a region,
              any region....

For years, we drove by those big green signs by the side of the road, wondering what they said. Then one day, my wife said, "Enough. Stop the truck," and we got out and read the sign (31. The Chocorua Legend).

Now, whenever we see one, we stop the car (the truck died a couple of years ago on Route 28 in Derry, straining at the traces, not far from sign 48. General John Stark), get out, read them, and take pictures.

The markers are presented chronologically (as erected by the State) within each region, as listed in the State of New Hampshire's index. The State of New Hampshire maintains an excellent (if incomplete) website describing the Historical Marker Program with an alphabetic index and separate regional indexes of its roadside historical markers.

Select a region at left to view thumnail images of that region's historical markers.
