Singing Sand

It all changed when the sand began to sing
when parabolic dunes told the story of our soul

each grain conspiring
high and low
to etch a melody, pure as hearse
across our sloping brow.

Still I poised with elongated arms
ready to embrace the crest of you,
lost in this candid refrain
left with sorrow so shear I could scarcely recognise.
