Rating:

Fun: 18 out of 20

Splinter Cell is a very fun game. It is one of the best stealth games around. When you play this game you are on the edge of your seat. Once you start to play the game you don't want to put it down. Sneaking through the shadows is really fun. The missions are challenging and are really fun. The only problem is that the game is pretty short. The game is really fun for those people who like stealth games.

Innovation: 10 out of 10

Splinter Cell is a very innovative game. The first innovative thing is the graphics. This is the first game I have ever played that has used shadows so well. You can tell whether you are well hidden or are out in the light. Also Splinter Cell brings alot of to the stealth genre. Shadows bring alot to gameplay seeing you need to stay in the dark and hide the guards that you attack. Also sound plays a part. If you are too loud the guards will find you. The entire game is innovative and revoulutionary.

Control: 9 out of 10

The controls in Splinter Cell work well. The controls take a while to get used to. There are several cool moves that you can do easily. The controls get better after you get used to them. Some of the gadgets you are not shown how to use but you can find out how to when you pause the game. Overall the controls work well but encounter some problems.

Graphics: 9 out of 10

The graphics in Splinter Cell are stunning. The cinematics are very well done and make you feel like the events in the game are really happening. The in game visuals are also stunning. The shadow and light effects are simply amazing and breathtaking. Your surroundings are also well detailed. The only problem with the visuals are the few glitches in the game. Sam sometimes walks oddly. The most significant problem is with guards after you kill them or knock them out. If you place a guard near a wall they will usually go through the wall and show up on both sides of the wall. The Xbox version has the best graphics of the three.

Sound: 9.5 out of 10

The sound in the game is very well done. The various sounds you hear in the game really add to the experience. You sometimes hear guards talking to one another when you come close to them. When you walk on wood you hear the wood creak, and when you walk on glass you can hear it crunch beneath your feet. Sound plays a big part in gameplay. You need to move quietly so you don't make alot of noise and alert the guards. The voice acting is also well done. The voices of Sam Fisher and Lambert are excellent.

Replay value: 7 out of 10

Splinter Cell has decent replay value. The game consists of around 8 levels. You might think that this game must be one of the shortest games ever. The levels are huge though and take at least an hour and a half each. The missions are very fun and are a joy to play. After you finish the game which will take you from 10 to 15 hours there is not much else you can do except play the game again. The game is fun the first time around but seeing it is linear the second time you play it it will not be much different.

Challenge: 9 out of 10

Splinter Cell is a very challenging game. At times the game gets very difficult. You sometimes have to use a trial and error strategy to move on. This at times can get you very fustrated. You have to go through the game slow and pay attention to your surroundings. The game gives you a big challenge even on easy difficulty. The game is very challenging but can get fustrating at times.

Multiplayer: No multiplayer available

Story: 9.5 out of 10

The story of Splinter Cell is very good. The story begins with Kombayn Nikoladze seizing control over the country of Georgia. Two Americans were sent to investigate and have gone missing. Sam Fisher is called in out of retirement to investigate what is going on. The small problem at the beginning of the game is just the beginning. Things turn worse and eventually the world is in danger. Sam journeys from America to Europe to Asia in his attempt to stop Kombayn Nikoladze. Will Sam Fisher be able to save the world or will Kombayn Nikoladze's plan succeed?

Tilt: 8 out of 10

Splinter Cell has brought the stealth genre to the forefront. There are a few minor bugs that barely hamper the experience. The game is on the difficult side and at times turns into a trial and error affair. I would recommend this game to fans of the genre. Even if you have never tried a stealth game you should try this game. It will probably hook you and you will want to play so many more stealth games. As a matter of fact this is the first stealth game I have ever played. I enjoyed it emensley and have tried several games since then.

Overall: 89 out of 100

Splinter Cell is an awesome game. It is revoulutionary in stealth action. The graphics are stunning and the audio is also excellent. The game is a blast to play. The problems with the game is the length and the little glitches in the game. I would recommend this game to almost everyone. Everyone who likes stealth game will love this game. Seeing this game is on all consoles and the computer everyone can play it.
