Rating:

Fun: 18.5 out of 20

Ratchet and Clank is a very immersive and fun game. It is a joy to play. If you like platformers this game is for you. It is a perfect blend of platforming and weapon combat. It is enjoyable to leap from platform to platform killing the enemies in your path. Once you begin to play the game you can't stop until you finish the game. The only way anyone could not like this game is if they totally hate platformers.

Innovation: 9.5 out of 10

Ratchet and Clank is a innovative game. It is the first game ever to be a good platformer with good weapon combat. It has very odd and interesting weapons that includes a weapon that turns your enemies into chickens. This game shows what platformers could possibly become and hopefully games follow this direction.

Control: 9 out of 10

The control works very well in this game. Jumping from platform to platform is effortless. It is easy to use any of the weapons in the game. The only problem with the control is the manual camera. At times it is hard to move the camera around so you can see where you are jumping.

Graphics: 9.5 out of 10

The graphics are nice. There are great locales that you get to explore in. They are creative and colorful. The worlds are vivid and greatly detailed. The creatures you fight are also creative and designed nicely.

Sound: 9 out of 10

The sound effects in the game are very well done. The sounds for explosions and the weapons are done very well. The voice acting for the characters is very well done. The music in the game is good but not memorable.

Replay value: 7 out of 10

The replay value of the game is one of the worst parts of the game. The first time you paly through the game it is great. Afterwards all you could do is play the game over again. That isn't such a bad thing seeing the game is great but you have no real reason to finish it again.

Challenge: 7.5 out of 10

Ratchet and Clank is not the most challenging game out there. At times the game is really simple and you can breeze through it. The enemy A.I. can be at times horrible and that makes it really easy just to pick off enemies left and right. There are challenging parts to the game also. At points you lose over and over until you get the hang of what you have to do. The game is not too easy that you get bored but you will not have a real hard time progressing through the game.

Multiplayer: No multiplayer available

Story: 10 out of 10

Ratchet and Clank has a great story. The story begins with Ratchet on his home planet. Suddenly one day Clank lands on his planet. Ratchet decides to help out Clank and while he does he discovers Drek wants to destroy planets including Ratchet's to create his own planet. Will Ratchet and Clank save the world or will Drek succeed in his plan.

Tilt: 10 out of 10

Ratchet and Clank is the begining a great platforming franchise. A great combination of platforming and shooting. Insomniac Games created a beautiful world with great characters inhabitating it. If you own a PS2 and want to try a new platformer go out and buy Ratchet and Clank.

Overall: 90 out of 100

Ratchet and Clank is overall a great game. It has great platforming and shooting action. I think future platformers will look a lot like Ratchet and Clank. There are few problems in the entire game. I would recommend this game for everyone no matter if they like platformers or not. The only people who wouldn't like this game are those who really hate platformers.
