• It doesn't matter whose circle you are invited to, always walk deosil (clockwise) while in circle. If you walk deosil, you can never offend anyone.
  • Always stay close to the edge of the circle, paying close attention to where the person who casts it is drawing if there is nothing put on the floor or ground. Do not step over the circle, but keep close to the edge.
  • Do not talk to others during circle. The only time it is appropriate to chitchat is during the cakes and ale ceremony.
  • If a certain tradition invites you to circle, ask them of any special rules they may have and then obey them when you arrive even if you see others breaking them.
  • Always bring an offering, even if it is not asked for. It's polite and the proper thing to do.
  • If you are chosen to give the offering back to nature, throw the food/wine well away from any houses, driveways, children play areas, and where people walk; ants are nature, however, they are not our friends.
  • Do not where robes in group circles that others will step on.
  • Do not go skyclad to a circle unless it is cleared by the host first.
  • If skyclad is allowed, do not stare at anyone who so chooses to go skyclad.
  • If you do not like someone who is going to be in circle, do not participate.
  • Never, ever, ever show up to a circle drunk or high.
  • When in circle, be aware of yourself. If you are clumsy, don't stand near the altar or candles.
  • During circle dance, be aware of others. Sometimes it is easy to get lost in the moment, but always be mindful that the people on either side of you have feet!
  • Never, ever, ever criticize a circle.
  • If you have gas, politely decline to participate.
  • If you would like to watch and not participate, always ask first.
  • If you watch, do not talk to others during any part of the circle.
  • If you are not the person hosting the circle, do not correct anyone you feel is getting out of line unless the host has asked you to.
  • Some people believe that animals and kids cannot break a circle. If in a circle and kids start wandering around, do not do anything to stop them unless the host does.
  • Do not participate in circle if you are sick.
  • Use the bathroom before you enter circle, especially when participating in a group circle for the first time.
  • If you have to leave circle for any reason, ask the person beside you to close the door for you, cut a physic doorway and leave. When you come back, if someone is talking, wait until they are finished to approach the circle again and have someone from the inside open it for you.
  • Take a shower before attending circle. Always be clean. If possible, take a ritual bath to cleanse your soul also.
  • If you don't know what can and can't be worn during circle (jewelry, watches, etc.), ask well before circle and abide by their rules.
  • If the group does something you do not feel comfortable with during circle, ask to not participate in that section.
  • If something offends you during circle, leave as soon as it happens.
  • When asked to a circle, volunteer to do something. Ask if there is something you can do to help and don't be afraid to tell them you do not want a speaking part if you are shy.
  • Help clean up after the ritual.
  • Don't forget the simple things. If asked to light a candle, ask the proper way to light and extinguish it.
  • Always turn toward the quarter being called.
  • Always ground and center before you enter a circle.
  • If you see everyone else doing something, do it also. For example, when the God is being called and everyone opens his or her arms to the sky, do so also.
  • Never, ever be afraid to ask questions, just ask them before circle and not during if you can help it.
  • If you're having fun, the Gods are having fun so have fun!
