Desmond Oliver (1962) Mumbai, India. Miracles never cease. Desmond has finally been Located. Was delighted to find my GMS website and look up all the names on the Alumni list. Des, along with his wife and family would like to send out his best wishes to all his old school buddies.

Richard Kelly (1962) Brampton. Canada. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Richard whom I had last seen in Calcutta back in 1963. He sends his best wishes to all the guys who were in school with him. He took an early retirement and now lives a life of leisure !!! Good show, Richard.

Mushtaq Khan (1962) Muscat, Oman Mushtaq writes: I was in St Xaviers Calcutta for a year doing Pre university after school and then joined Medicine in Aligarh University near Delhi. I am now working in the Dept of Family & Community Health in Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, the capital of Oman, since 1991.I have 2 children , a son in his final year of Medicine and a daughter who has started Dental course. I am here with my wife, the children are in India.

I recently corresponded with Edwin Bernard. I also sent an E-mail to Louis Conroy but did not receive any reply. Can you help me. Do you have any contacts with Brady, our classmate. I will send him an E-mail soon. Give him mine. Our friend Bhaduri is in Delhi, Bobby Chaudhuri, AK Daw, Rana Chatterjee, NG Kar all in Calcutta. MB Karki & NJ Thapa are in Nepal. I am trying to locate them. If successful I will let you know. S Gupta was in Tata's Jamshedpur but we have lost contact for about 2-3 years. TN Tenzing is the Director General of Police in Sikkim. I was in contact with SC Modi & S Khan but no news since last 7-8 years. I hear PM Son is also in Canada.

Lou Conroy (1962) Perth, Aust. Stanley Williams is in Perth (as I am) but out of circulation. I have never met him in the 31 years that I have been here. I do not play social hockey any more for the Harlequins where Errol and Vivian Goves and Matt Lobo used to play. Glenn Storey was living in the block of flats where my mother lives in Highgate but lost contact after the Anglo Indian reunion in 1995. His brother Roger was here for that.

In 1982 on a visit to Melbourne, I contacted Richard Johnson and Eugene Rebeiro who both visited me. I also had lunch with Jeffrey Knight. Evan Cooper is in the Police force (the last I knew) and I still run into Errol Wickens socially through his brother in law.

I am interested in finding out where Peter Parnham, Tony Gasper, Desmond Oliver (Zooby), Pon Mei Son, N.G Kar. Adrian Alphonso, David Phillips are. They along with you were all in our year. Mickey Khan I think became a doctor at Aligarh University.

I visited England and Europe last year and will be visiting there again in August. So if you do find out any London addresses please let me know.

I am the proud grandfather of a boy who turned one yesterday (5th July). If you do come to Perth please contact me. I will only be too pleased to show you around.

Bro. Fitzpatrick from Naini Tal, U.P. India, to Mr. Joe Malikhail. (March '99)

.... I spent the months of Dec. & Jan. here in Naini Tal with Bro. Ralph Foran as companion - he loves to come here in the winter from Mount Abu. Early in Feb. I headed off to Delhi for ten days where Brothers Tim Comber & Pat Gaffney were waiting to leave for Ireland. Tim will go to St. Patrick's, Baldoyle, for good as at this stage of his life, aged 85, he needs some special attention. Pat Gaffney is not keeping too well & may well remain in Ireland if a cure is not in sight. There are only 25 Irish Brothers now in India.

From Delhi I went to Kurseong for two weeks & I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Goethals after a lapse of 10 years. It was great meeting all the old hands in the school, both teachers & servants. Tshering, you must remember the Brothers' bearer for about 50 years died shortly before I arrived & so did John Augustine who worked all his life in the boys' dining room. Not too many of the old teachers are still in Goethals. We had dinner with Fr. Van and his community in St. Alphonsus one night. Fr. Van will be going back to North Point as Rector, as you may have heard.

Unfortunately time did not permit of a visit to Darjeeling. I visited Fr. Abraham's Farm at Woodcot - he recently brought 28 Friesan cows from Bangalore; I also went to see his new Farm up the hill at Chimney; it's a wonderful venture & lots of poor folk in the area are engaged in the work there; I only hope that they will try to introduce the new farming techniques learned from Fr. Abe, to their own little plots in the neighbourhood. I also visited all the old haunts around Goethals - Kettle Valley, St. Mary's Hill, Roly Poly etc. It was a very pleasing experience & wonderful to relate that the weather, for Kurseong, was marvelous, no mist & no rain !! Bosco Oman & Joe Donovan were also at Goethals on a visit at the same time as myself, so the whole experience was doubly enjoyable.

Bro. Tom Moynihan died in Baldoyle about 2 weeks ago. R.I.P.

Bisham Malkani (1958) Pune -- Writes: I was very excited to come across the GMS Alumni while surfing the net. The familiar faces and names brought back fond old memories. Names such as Hugh Porter, Matthew Lobo, Barun Roy, Kar brothers, Sunil Bhandari, to name a few, were very good friends of mine.

Some of my classmates were Gerard D'Souza, Danny McGready, N.K. Rai, S.P. Malla, Jonah Jacob, Wangchen Tshering, Madan Bahadur Kharki, Elford White, Hoshi Gazder, K.B. Rana, Chand, Chakravorty, Sergeant, and a few more whom I seem to have forgotten.

Michael Elimer is still in touch with me, as I used to see him often while I was studying in England. Mike is a resident of UK. Please do be in touch as I am very keen on meeting up with my old pals with whom I shared many a good moment.

Tejinder Sethi (1990) New Delhi -- writes --- the Delhi Chapter of the GMS Alumni had about 70 former students attend their 1997 re-union. The date this year was set for Oct. 02, 1998. Contact Tejinder at phone: 6134311 or 6896003 or fax no: 6137810.

Australia: Hugh and Francis Porter both live in Perth with their families. They are fortunate to live in the same area as this allows them to meet as often as possible.

Errol Goves was a great guitarist during his days in Calcutta. His popular band burned up the dance floor at "Trincas" "Mocambo" "the Grail Club" and other popular hang outs of the 60's crowd.

Matt Lobo was a student who returned to Goethals to teach for a number of years before he migrated to Australia with his wife. Matt took a trip back to India and was planning to visit his Alma Mater.

Peter Lardner and Eugene Rebeiro live in Melbourne. As they were not connected to the Net I phoned them and had a long conversation with the two Calcutta boys.

England: Andrew Clark is on the move again. From his last posting in Pakistan he will be travelling to Romania where he will be setting up his home for the next couple of years. He has a chat room on the Internet and all Goethalites are welcome to pop by and join in the conversation.

India: Joey D'Silva and his brother Walter are Owner/Managers of the "Silver Grill" Restaurant on Park Street, beside "Fluries". Remembers the pastries at Fluries, delicious !!! I remember dropping in at Chitaranjan Avenue to visit Joey in 1974. He invited me over to his restaurant for a superb meal. Joey and I graduated in 1962.

Ker Fah Liu. (1957) sent me a very interesting email: "Some of my classmates were Joseph (Nee Yam) Lee, ( Clem Lee's brother), Tom Kingsley (a talented soccer player), Patrick Peirce (a talented overall athlete), Patrick (C.Y.) Liu (a talented photographer, who took many of the pictures in the 75th Anniversary Commemorative Year Book), Hugh Porter and Christopher Bell (sprinters on our 4x100 yard Relay Team which bested Victoria School), D.N. Thapa (whose initials we used to remember the "numerator" and the "denominator" when we were introduced to fractions: D.N. Thapa upside down, i.e. N/D ), M.S. Gurung (another talented soccer player), Sadiq Abdullah, J.P. (Tiger) Chhetry, Kameshwar Shrestha, Karuna Shrestha, S.T. (Sammy) Wong, Madan Bahadur Karki, Roger DeLima, John B. (Sig's Big Toe) Massey, Johnnie (17 Cutlets) Vertanness, Anil Majumdar and John Armstrong.

Brother T.P. Fitzpatrick was our principal. Brother F.G. Kelly was our class teacher and Mr. A.B. Roy was our Science teacher.

Andrew Clark and Clem (N.C.) Lee are already planning to attend the Centenary Reunion in 2007. This is in its early stages and if you are interested please visit the "GMS chat line" or send me an email.

Joe D'Silva (1962): Residing in Calcutta. Owner/Manager of "The Silver Grill Restaurant & Bar" on Park Street, sends his best wishes to all Goethalites.
