The Polytheology List is for Pagans, Neopagans, those following other alternative spiritual paths, and all who are interested in a reasonable and "civilized" dialogue on theological issues concerning these various forms of spirituality, whether as a practitioner, scholar, or interested contributor. It is not a forum for discussions of mainstream monotheisms except as the theological issues of the Pagan, Neopagan, and alternative spirituality communities overlap with them. The major topics of mainstream theology will be of interest, but the purpose of this list is to develop our own analyses and descriptions of our own different issues and points of view.

There cannot be a single theology which will encompass all of the various religions and spiritual paths under the umbrellas of Paganism, Neopaganism, or alternative spirituality. Nonetheless, i believe that it is healthy and necessary for our communities to enter into dialogue among ourselves and with those of other religions who are knowlegeable and open-minded concerning our theologies. This dialogue will, i hope, enable us to communicate better with each other, the leaders of mainstream religions, governmental and legal agencies, and ordinary citizens and worshippers.

Possible topics for discussion include, but are not limited to:

• What IS Polytheology anyway?
• How is Polytheology similar to more standard theologies?
• How does Polytheology differ from more mainstream theologies?
• Developing a list of important issues in Polytheology to discuss
• Resources for a development of Polytheology, including, but not limited to: Web-Sites, e-zines, other e-lists, FAQs, books, journals, scholarly articles, etc.
• Conceptions of the Divine, not as specific entities/deities, but as concerning the Nature of the Divine
• What are the Ethics of Polythology beyond mere statement of creed?
• What are the benefits of interfaith work?
• Will the development of a clear description of our theologies help improve communications among leaders and members of our own religious communities?
• Will the development of a clear description of our theologies help improve communications with leaders of mainstream religions and with mainstream religious organizations?
• Will the development of a clear description of our theologies help improve communications with legal and governmental organizations?
