Simulated Macintosh Volumes
Since 01/01/98
Executor comes with a utility called MAKEHFV.EXE with which simulated Macintosh volumes can be created on a PC hard drive. The utility creates an HFV file which is placed within your Executor directory. Within Executor, the volume appears as a Macintosh hard drive. MAKEHFV.EXE allows you to create new volumes up to 128 MB in size.
To create a new simulated Macintosh volume on your hard drive, within the Executor directory at the command prompt, type
makehfv dos_name.hfv "Volume Name" xxM/K
where dos_name is the name you want to give the file itself, "Volume Name" is the name you want the volume to show within Executor (Note: the quotes are necessary if a space appears in the name), xx is a positive number, and M/K specifies Megabytes or Kilobytes.
For example,
makehfv macvol.hfv "Macintosh Volume" 40M
would create an HFV file called "macvol.hfv" which would appear within Executor as a 40 Megabyte Macintosh hard drive named "Macintosh Volume."
