1)Oct. 20, 2001 - The first American raid led by 100 Army Rangers, resulted in the deaths of some 25 Taliban troops.
2)Oct. 24, 2001 - Strike leaves 22 Pakistani dead. The militants, members of the banned group Harakat ul-Mujahedeen, died when a US bomb hit a house in Kabul where they were meeting, said Muzamal Shah, a Harakat leader in Pakistan.
3)Nov. 8, 2001 - US bombing near Mazar killed 85 fighters of a Pakistan based militant group, said a spokesman for the Harkat Jihad i-Islami group.
4)Nov. 10, 2001 - Capture of Mazar-e-Sharriff, N. Alliance forces surrounded a force of 1,200 mainly Pakistani, Arab and other foreign fighters in the Sultan Razzia Girls High School in the Darwaza-e-Balkh quarter of western Mazar. In the assault that followed, reportedly after calls to surrender had been ignored, at least 550 foreign fighters were killed, according to the Red Cross that removed and buried the bodies. Another 120 bodies were removed from the city streets. Taliban and Al-Qaeda dead in the fall of Mazar-e-Sharriff in all estimated at 2,000.
5)Nov. 13, 2001 - Fall of Kabul, 70 bodies recovered on the outskirts and inside Kabul. Hundreds of graves bearing the Taliban white flag a sign of their losses before withdrawing.
6)Nov. 18, 2001 - Tarin Kot, near Kandahar, with a small group of Afghans, the 5th Special Forces Group established an observation post outside town as the Taliban convoy approached early in the morning of the 18th. They called in US aircraft, which began attacking the vehicles. About 10 or 12 Taliban fighters were captured while maneuvering on the eastern side of the town. They later revealed that their orders were not only to retake the town but to slaughter some residents, including women and children, to make an example of the rebels. In the aftermath of the assault, the commander of the Taliban forces, who surrendered a week later, reported that 300 of his men, mostly Arabs and Pakistanis, were killed in the counterattack.
7)Nov. 25-27 - Qalai Janghi prison uprising, around 400 foreign fighters killed in a failed uprisng. An estimated 30-40 N. Alliance and 1 American CIA agent also died here.
8)Nov. 28, 2001 - Takhta Pol, near Kandahar, forces loyal to Gul Agha, one of Harzai's allied commanders, executed 160 captured Taliban fighters who refused to surrender last week. The commander, who declined to be identified, said seven or eight US military personnel who had been filming the fighting tried unsuccessfully to prevent the executions.
9)Dec. 9-17, 2001, Tora Bora, around 100 Al-Qaeda members were killed in heavy bombings throughout the week. A final push on the 17th left another 200 dead Al-Qaeda and some 50 prisoners. Another 200 foreign fighters were caught trying to escape to Pakistan. Also here, a raid in one of the caves in Tora Bora by the British SAS left 17 dead Al-Qaeda, 18 captured, and 1 SAS member hurt.
10)Jan. 24, 2002 - Raid near Kandahar leaves 15 Al-Qaeda dead and 27 Taliban and Al-Qaeda taken prisoner. One American serviceman was wounded.
